Location: Long Island City, NY, US
We are seeking a Lead Technician to join our olfactory neuroscience research team to support the development, implementation and acceleration of our cutting-edge receptor-based discovery platforms and to be a central player on the core high-throughput screening lab. Your Key Responsibilities:
- Design, plan, coordinate, direct, and perform HTS workflows using stand-alone and integrated robotic liquid handler platforms.
- Implement receptor-driven cell-based assays using both stand-alone and integrated robotic liquid handler platforms.
- Weekly maintenance and monitoring of automation equipment for production screening.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing deviations and identify areas of process improvements.
- Point of contact for vendors to implement software/hardware improvements on existing and new equipment accordingly.
- Interface with the data science team to ensure efficient workstation data management and software upgrade.
- Serve a broad range of R&D project teams to deliver on agreed objectives.

You Bring:
- A BS in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or related field with 3+ years of experience with industry R&D laboratory automation, or a MS in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or related field with 2+ years of experience with industry R&D laboratory automation.
- A track record with programing liquid handling robots (HighRes Prime, Hamilton, Tecan, Biomek), developing SOPs, and optimizing automation methods.
- Experience in executing high throughput screening workflows. A highly competitive candidate will have experience with integrated workstations.
- Core technical competencies in biotechnology and automation. Experience with mammalian cell-based assays. Knowledge in molecular and/or cellular biology.
- Familiarity in data analysis methodologies and data management programs. Highly competitive candidates will have experience with programming languages (Python, R,. or C#).
- A proactive mindset for improving workflows and processes with a solution-oriented, result driven, and hands-on approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage timeline deliverables for multiple small projects (writing/designing workplans, progress reporting, presentation to project teams).
- Excellent communication skills and proactive in connecting with team members in a cross-disciplinary matrix environment.
The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. This position is also eligible for bonuses and benefits, which are not included in the pay scale provided. Salary $73,900-$105,200.
