JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to perform database administration. The position is responsible for supervising and providing data entry support, analysis, and reporting. The Data Manager will develop, maintain, and manage the office databases, listservs, and other applications. They will also ensure the accuracy and integrity of the databases and maintain the coding structure. Responsibilities include continually updating and correcting database records, producing standard and custom reports, and creating and managing procedures for storing data using the latest management systems. Additional duties include importing and exporting data, extracting and analyzing data, and performing data mapping. The Data Manager must ensure accurate and timely report writing and understand the basic functions of report writing for various organizations, such as federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:
Lead efforts in state, federal, and accreditation reporting, where appropriate. Serve as a liaison to internal and external committees.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Internal contacts generally include administrators, faculty, students and staff. External contacts generally include state, federal and accreditation officials, assessment vendors, consultants, visitors and the general public.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Serves as a liaison to the PI and clinical research teams, sponsors, and regulatory bodies to design data strategies that support clinical trial results and ensure compliance.
- Serves as the primary contact for all internal and external reporting and data queries.
- Maintains the security, accuracy, and integrity of the databases and listservs for all office functions.
- Processes regular data workflow and analytic reports.
- Ensures data is protected and secured in compliance with Howard University policies and legal regulations.
- Routinely examines and cleanses current data records to ensure data accuracy and quality.
- Evaluates system performance and provides recommendations for enhancements in hardware, software, and data storage.
- Supervises the integration of new technologies and initiatives into data standards and structures.
- Collaborates with leadership teams to create data-driven strategies that enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Conducts data transformation and visualization using various platforms and share findings with multiple teams.
- Manages the input, maintenance and exporting of mailing lists and production of bulk mailing.
- Establishes technical business goals for the database area.
- Provides support for the CIDMAR’s internal and external reporting requirements (I.e. assessment plan, annual reports, strategic planning and data analysis for credentialing and accreditation)
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Experience in database systems, data entry and report writing/presentations.
- Broad knowledge of reporting for various agencies
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Strong conceptual, analytical and integrative thinking. Demonstrates initiative.
- Able to manage structured autonomy.
- Proficiency with CAREWare, Allscripts, and related software applications.
- Detailed oriented and organized. Ability to analyze, interpret, and organize large amounts of data.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in technology or related field. Minimum of 3-6 years’ experience working directly with technology. Eleven years of related work experience may be substituted in lieu of educational qualifications.

Compliance Salary Range Disclosure
