The Position

The eCoE is a talent engine for Finance through capability and network building.
Within the eCOE, the R&D Outcome Based Community (OBC) focuses on delivering a high-level of fifinancial expertise, innovative insights, and an entrepreneurial mindset to influence and support R&D investments at Roche.
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented R&D Benchmarking Analyst to support our R&D organization. This role focuses on collecting, analyzing, and interpreting internal and external data to benchmark R&D performance, costs, timelines, and success rates in molecule development. You will play a critical role in shaping R&D strategy through competitive intelligence, pipeline assessment, and knowledge management.
The Opportunity:
Conduct R&D benchmarking studies focused on preclinical and clinical development phases across therapeutic areas and molecule types.
Main point of contact for external benchmark analysis providing, collecting, validating and analyzing benchmark data points to/from our selected external provider
Analyze molecule development costs, timelines, success rates, using internal project data and external sources
Support cross-functional teams by providing actionable insights to improve pipeline productivity and decision-making
Develop and maintain internal databases and dashboards on R&D metrics, competitive programs, and industry trends
Collaborate with portfolio management, therapeutic area leads, and external providers to contextualize benchmarking insights
Track industry best practices and innovations in drug discovery, translational research, and clinical development.
Synthesize large datasets and scientific knowledge into concise reports and presentations for senior leadership
What you bring:
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Finance, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related field.
2–5 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, competitive intelligence, or management consulting (with pharma focus).
Strong understanding of molecule development stages (discovery to early/late-phase clinical development).
Familiarity with R&D KPIs: time-to-launch, timelines, cost of failure, cycle times, etc.
Experience with huge databases/tools
Excellent data analysis and visualization skills (Excel, PP, SAC,...).
Strong communication skills with ability to translate complex data into strategic insights.
You have the ability to turn data into insights, comfortable with zooming in and out on details and granularity depending on the situation. You are a collaborative team player with ability to deal with ambiguous situations and deliver in a networked setup. You are courageously authentic with ability to speak up and point out opportunities.
The role is located in Basel.
