Dentsply Sirona, Waltham, MA, is looking for a senior scientist with generative AI product development experience. The candidate will join a new team that will work on cutting edge applications of machine learning (ML) and generative AI. They will drive forward the development of products and ensure that it gets into the hands of customers. This role combines technical know-how with development skills, allowing the successful candidate to bring novel products to customers of Dentsply Sirona’s cloud based platform and help further our mission – To transform dentistry and improve oral health globally.  

 

*This is a hybrid position which requires working in the office at least one day per week. 

 

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

• Investigate applying new generative AI research to areas such as 3D reconstruction, AI treatment planning and other topics 

• Create generative AI products that will help dentists and patients with a world wide impact 

• Work independently within a team 

• Be a source of technical expertise for the team in generative AI research topics 

• Lead ML model design; develops, implements, and helps adoption of best practices for model development  

• Collaborate with other teams and understands technical relationships and dependencies  

• Mentor junior team members and help set goals 

• Provide and maintain research, experimentation and deployment tools for ML and generative AI research 

• Ensure the scalability, performance, and reliability of ML models   

• Refine user stories and define acceptance criteria for tasks within the team 

• Research and protype algorithms and design generative AI solutions that provide value to the end users   

• Write invention disclosures; support legal counsel in drafting patent applications  

• Participate in interview processes, help the team make hiring decisions    

• Support campaigns for the acquisition of training data 

• Follow the current state-of-the-art technology (literature surveys, or attends conferences)  

 

Qualifications

Education:  

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent 

Years and Type of Experience: 

• 4 to 6 years of professional experience with a Master’s or 2 to 4 years with a PhD in applying generative AI and machine learning algorithms to real-world problems 

• Experience with complex technical projects across teams 

• Proficiency in machine learning concepts, programming and data analysis 

• Experience in medical technology development is a plus 

Key Skills, Knowledge & Capabilities: 

• Excellent communication, project planning, and teamwork skills  

• Excellent written, verbal presentation, and communication skills 

• Experience working in a global team 

• Experience in working in the cloud 

• Experience building end-to-end systems 

• Experience in one of the ML model development libraries: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc. 

 

The base salary for this role located in Massachusetts  is between $130,000 - $145,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
