The Role
Data Scientists at EDO drive EDO's modeling and analytical methodology to measure the effect that television and streaming ads have on consumer behaviors, primarily consumers' online search and website visits.
What You Will Do
- Enhance EDO's AdEngage platform that measures the effectiveness of linear and streaming TV ads, and enable it to process new types of data and serve new client needs.
- Test out new methods for modeling ad effectiveness on trillion-event data sets spanning millions of households for several years.
- Develop reusable tools and building blocks for connecting data sets.
- Build, diagnose, and tune models, then automate the modeling and diagnostics.
- Work on a small team and take ownership of high impact projects.
What We Are Looking For

- Interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively on a distributed team.
- Experience building and tuning XGBoost (or similar GBM) models, and with cross-validation techniques, and familiarity with a handful of other modeling tools.
- Experience with git and exposure to unit testing concepts.
- Understanding of biased data and adjustment methods including weighting and resampling.
- Proficiency with analytic queries in SQL and relational databases (we primarily use Snowflake), with experience interfacing directly with databases from Python (we leverage SQLAlchemy Core heavily).
Experience we can help you develop
- Building models of sales lift, running controlled experiments, modeling marketing effectiveness.
- Familiarity with panel datasets, especially ones with missing data and attrition.
- Development and test pipelines, continuous integration.
- Development of feature engineering pipelines and DBT.
- Implementing or auditing policy compliance in data pipelines and workflows.
- EDO offers engineering teams a full suite of GenAI tools to assist in developing their work, and resources to best enable use of these tools, as desired.
