Position Overview

 The Solution Architect Consultant is integral to our efforts in deploying advanced utility grid management solutions, particularly focusing on ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System), OMS (Outage Management) integration, and emerging DERMS (Distributed Energy Resource Management System) integration. Reporting directly to the Manager, Integration Development, you will be pivotal in delivering high-impact implementations and providing expert consulting services to our valued customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of ADMS implementations and the integration of leading ADMS software from our partners, ensuring successful product installation, integration development, interface support, and system maintenance.
  • Lead the implementation and delivery of OMS integration projects for utilities that are implementing integration for OMS.
  • Engage directly with customers, providing consulting services that cover GIS Feeder Modeling, application tuning, and ongoing system maintenance.
  • Participate in the rollout of innovative DERMS projects, enhancing our capabilities in managing distributed energy resources.
  • Travel to customer sites across the country to provide hands-on support and forge strong client relationships.
  • Operate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various ADMS, OMS, and DERMS products, as well as in electrical power system network modeling, contributing your expertise to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of projects by clearly understanding project requirements, scopes, and timelines as part of a core project team.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10+ years working in the electric utility industry; either at a utility, ADMS or OMS vendor and/or as a consultant specializing in grid management applications and integrations.
  • Education: Software Engineering, Data Science, or Computer Science Degree
  • Technical Skills: Java development, with J2EE, Enterprise Java Bean, JMS, REST Service, and Web Service development experience is required. Experience with Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Databases, or other Web Application Platforms is required. API Performance and Test Automation tools for stub, unit test, automation, and performance testing experience.
  • Reasoning Development: Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized. Ability to think creatively, highly driven and self-motivated. 
  • Familiarity with operational technology systems and information technology systems commonly used by electric utilities (e.g., Oracle NMS, OSI Monarch)
  • Experience making presentations to utilities and facilitating meetings with utility management, power engineers and utility staff.
  • Desired Qualifications: 

  • Educational —Master of Science degree or higher in Computer or Software Engineering with an emphasis on Java Development J2EE level of education and training.
  • Industry Experience — Extensive experience working in the utility industry, particularly in roles involving grid management systems at utilities, ADMS vendors (such as ABB, ACS, GE, Oracle OSI, Schneider Electric, Siemens), system integrators, or electrical utility consulting firms.
  • Technical Expertise in Distribution Systems — Proficient in electrical distribution system analysis and modeling, with experience using standards like CIM and MultiSpeak. Familiarity with GIS platforms such as ESRI, Intergraph, and GE/Smallworld, and expertise in using distribution system models.
  • Renewable Energy Integration — Knowledgeable about challenges and solutions related to integrating renewable energy resources into the grid, enhancing capability in modern energy solutions and sustainability practices.
  • OMS Integration — Have the deep understanding of integration and information that is used to integrate OMS System with utility back office and OT systems.
  • Software and Programming Skills — Experienced in scripting and programming, particularly in languages such as Python, C/C++, Java, and SQL, which are critical for customizing solutions and automating processes.
  • System Knowledge — Hands-on experience with SCADA systems, Outage Management Systems (OMS), Performance Test Automation Tools, and familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • DERs Modeling — Specific experience in modeling Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), positioning the candidate to contribute effectively to the implementation and management of DERMS projects.
  • The expected compensation range for this position is based upon several factors, including but not limited to education, qualifications, prior relevant work experience and work location.

     

    Compensation: $150,000 - $175,000
