Job Description

In this compelling leadership position, you will plan and direct the work of a unit or several units with teams who design, produce, test, and/or implement software, technology, and/or processes, as well as create and maintain IT architecture, large-scale data stores, and cloud-based systems. In this role, you may also coordinate business unit operational activities through the efforts of supportive team members.

The Director of DevOps & Engineering role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Determine the needs of diverse and complex customer groups requiring applied understanding and resolution of complex or unusual business problems.
  • Plan and direct the work of multiple teams as they design and develop software solutions to meet needs.
  • Drive a process-driven approach in designing solutions.
  • Direct the implementation of new software technology and coordinate simultaneous implementation programs across departments or divisions.
  • Direct the effective and efficient long-term maintenance of existing software.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experiences:

  • 8 years of relevant experience in AI, data science, or software engineering, with a proven track delivering solutions to production
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with experience in building, mentoring, and guiding high-performing, diverse teams of software engineers and AI professionals
  • Exemplary communication and stakeholder management skills, adept at engaging with leadership and key stakeholders to drive consensus and action
  • A spirit of scientific discovery, driven by a passion for innovation to deliver results, balanced with a deep understanding of risks and ethical considerations
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL, crucial for data manipulation and algorithm development
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud computing environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, particularly their AI and data analytics services
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Math, Statistics, engineering, physics or related field or equivalent experience

Desired Experiences:

  • Master degree or PhD in computer science, Math, Statistics, engineering, physics, or related field
  • Demonstrated success in developing and deploying AI-driven solutions and models, particularly within the Financial or professional services sectors
  • Large Enterprise project experience
  • Proven experience in managing CICD operations and agile teams
  • Expertise in Gitlab, Terraform, and CICD pipeline development
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Extensive experience in cloud development, especially with AWS
  • Demonstrated ability to support enterprise migrations
  • In-depth knowledge of full-life cycle development processes
  • Strong focus on risk management and controls


Enterprise-Scale Transformation Leadership

  • Experience with complex, multi-year transformation initiatives across large organizations.
  • Ability to drive modernization of engineering practices, platforms, and tooling.

AWS Cloud Expertise (Strategic, Not Hands-On)

  • Deep familiarity with AWS services and architecture patterns.
  • Experience guiding cloud-native solution design and governance in AWS environments.

CI/CD Pipeline Strategy & Oversight

  • Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and tooling.
  • Recent experience overseeing enterprise-scale pipeline infrastructure using tools such as:
    • GitLab
    • Jenkins
    • Terraform
    • Bitbucket
    • IBM UrbanCode Deploy (UCD)
  • Ability to lead teams in standardizing and scaling DevOps target-state platform and practices across the organization.

Target Pay Range: $196,000.00 - $264,000.00 a year

The hiring range for this role is set forth below. Final salaries will generally vary within that range based on factors that include but are not limited to, skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant qualifications.
