Global Markets Group is the offshoring arm of Morgan Stanley’s Equity businesses in India. It covers functions across IED ranging from those associated with sales, trading, analytics, Strats to risk management.

The Quantitative Research (QR) group designs, builds and maintains the models which drive the equity trading engines at Morgan Stanley. Our systems are used globally by both internal trading groups and clients of the firm. We utilize systematic, data-driven approaches to understand how markets work and put those ideas in action. The team spans the disciplines of finance, econometrics, statistics, mathematics, machine learning and data analysis, with many team members well versed in multiple areas. Primary Responsibilities

This role, based in Mumbai, requires the individual to work with global Morgan Stanley Quantitative Research teams. The successful candidate will be a fast-learning, dynamic, pro-active and self-motivated individual who can assist the team in maintaining and analyzing referential data, as well as generating ad hoc performance and market condition reports for clients.

The expected working hours will be 7:30 Am (local time) to 4:30 pm (local time) 


What You’ll Do In The Role

  • Responsible for analyzing ongoing corporate events like M&As, spin-offs, bankruptcies, reorganizations, and other corporate actions (e.g., stock splits, rights offerings, dividends, etc.)

  • Timely identification and reviewing nature of the corporate action and it’s impact index memberships, weights, size, style, and industry classifications.

  • Collaborating globally to deliver timely and high-quality responses to queries related to corporate events raised by our global clients and internal teams.

  • Share insights through emails and presentations by preparing deep-dive analytical content on corporate actions, index events, and market microstructure.

  • Collaborate regularly with cross-functional teams including Sales, Trading, and Strats.

  Core Requirements

We are looking for a confident and outgoing individual, who has exceptional attention to detail and takes initiative.

  • 8+ years of experience in the financial sector with direct practical experience in equity markets

  • Experience in monitoring activity in underlying markets to capture relevant corporate events

  • Able to demonstrate practical mastery of handling complex corporate actions

  • Experience in making presentations for complex corporate actions with proposed implementation to senior decision-making Committees

  • Handle client queries related to corporate actions and Equity Benchmark methodology

  • A degree in quantitative discipline (e.g., BE, BTech, MS in Mathematics, Statistics, Financial Engineering, or Economics).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly. Experience in writing marketing materials or trade ideas for broad distribution is a plus.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.
     

Complementary Skills

  • Extensive experience in EU/EMEA markets, with active involvement in strategic decision-making for complex corporate event implementations.

  • Market knowledge on Index rebalances, Funds, ETFs, and mechanisms

  • Experience or progress towards gaining proficiency in Python
