AI Voice and Audio Lead, Sound Design

The Creative Audio AI Team at Meta is working on pioneering technologies to bring people closer together, our team shares the responsibility of doing it at a global scale through AI. Creative Audio is seeking a Design Lead Manager to spearhead and support our team. The Creative Audio AI Design Lead Manager will be collaborating on the strategy, execution and steering of the Creative Audio AI foundations, collaborating with team members and key cross-functional partners to align with Meta’s top AI priorities.AI Voice and Audio Lead, Sound Design Responsibilities

• Support a small team of AI Leads on Voice and Audio, across multiple projects of increasing dependencies and complexities of high-impact, facilitating career growth, and creating a collaborative relationships that lead to impact
• Actively influences the strategy and shaping of the roadmap for Creative Audio AI and sets the approach, direction and goals for the team
• Applied knowledge of domain, business, market, and industry to advance overall team goals
• Help manage resources and headcount against a wide, varied, and fast-evolving portfolio of projects
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate audio into the product development process
• Work with technical sound designers, conversational designers, voice lead, creative coders, engineers, PMs and researchers to develop AI audio experiences
• Provide creative and technical direction and guidance to AI leads and creative coders
• Stay up-to-date with AI industry trends and emerging AI technologies
• Represent the AI Audio Team in cross-functional meetings and presentations
• Ensure strategic partnerships are effective with Engineering, Design, and Product Management teams across Meta
• Advocate for the role and value of audio across Meta and in the larger creative community
• Understand the strengths and opportunities on the current team as it grows, and recruit for new roles and actively participate in the hiring process
• Build a broad and welcoming environment across the team, model respectful behavior, and hold team members accountable

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional sound design, text-to-speech voice development, technical sound design
• Implementation experience, focused on high-quality sonic experiences
• 7+ years experience assembling and managing teams of creative and technical experts with specialties, including hiring and developing people
• Experience leading Cross Functional teams and managing multiple vendors
• Experienced critical listening skills, experience with verifying audio quality on software and hardware with a proven ear for maintaining high quality
• Experience with voice production or audio post production, including casting, recording, voice direction, editing, and mastering
• Proficiency in digital audio workstations and editing tools (Pro Tools and Izotope RX)
• Experienced in understanding of DSP, audio synthesis, and digital audio concepts and formats
• Familiarity with Quality Assurance processes, test plans, and bug tracking
• Demonstrated communication skills, and experienced communication with key stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Scripting or programming experience (Python, C++, JavaScript)
• Experience with AI and generative AI systems (e.g. LLMs), and/or text-to-speech model training
• Familiarity with studio and location recording, editing, mixing, and mastering
• Experience in advancing AI techniques, including core contributions to open source libraries
• Experience establishing an Audio team within an established organization
• Experience with generative sound or music, speech synthesis, NLP, music information retrieval, or digital signal processing

$163,000/year to $224,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
