The Machine Learning Department (MLD) is a leading hub for research and education in artificial intelligence and machine learning. It focuses on developing innovative algorithms and models to address complex problems in diverse fields such as robotics, healthcare, and finance. The department offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs, fostering a collaborative environment that bridges theoretical research and practical applications. Faculty and students frequently collaborate with industry and other academic disciplines to push the boundaries of what is possible with machine learning.
We are seeking a Research Assistant. This position will contribute to the development of AI agents for medical applications. This role involves modeling hospital workflows, working with medical datasets, and developing AI tools for healthcare settings. The position serves as a bridge between clinical domain knowledge and AI research, preparing for future doctoral studies in medical AI.
Core Responsibilities:
- Model and document business processes and workflows in hospital settings
- Integrate and analyze publicly available medical datasets with synthetic data generation
- Assess and validate the quality of synthetic medical data against real-world benchmarks
- Validate process models to ensure they accurately reflect hospital operations and variations
- Assist in modeling and integrating diagnostic tools (such as X-ray analysis) into workflow models
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure AI solutions meet clinical needs
- Document research findings and contribute to technical reports

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Programming experience in Python
- Familiarity with data analysis and machine learning concepts
- Curiosity about healthcare applications of AI
- Basic understanding of medical terminology helpful but not required
- A combination of education and meaningful experience from which comparable knowledge is proven may be considered.
