The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Director of Engineering – Data Platforms to lead the design, development, and delivery of our next-generation data platform capabilities. This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll shape the future of data at LSEG—driving innovation, building scalable systems, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

What You’ll Do

🚀 Lead with Vision

• Define and drive the roadmap for enterprise-scale data platforms.
• Champion platform reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

🛠️ Deliver with Impact

• Oversee the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) for data engineering.
• Implement best practices in CI/CD, testing, observability, and documentation.
• Lead agile teams to deliver secure, high-quality data solutions.

🤝 Collaborate to Succeed

• Partner with product, architecture, and business leaders to align on strategy.
• Mentor and grow engineering managers, tech leads, and senior engineers.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on data strategy and engineering practices.

🧠 Architect for the Future!

• Design secure, efficient, and governed data pipelines.
• Embed data quality, lineage, and governance into platform architecture.
• Promote modern data paradigms like Lakehouse, Data Mesh, and open formats.

🔍 Innovate with Purpose!

• Stay ahead of emerging technologies in cloud-native data platforms.
• Evaluate and adopt tools that enhance performance and developer experience.

What You Bring

• Proven leadership in building and scaling data/platform engineering teams.
• Deep expertise in modern data architectures (e.g., data lakes, streaming).
• Hands-on experience with Spark, Flink, Python/Scala/Java, and SQL.
• Strong knowledge of Azure data services and open-source tools (e.g., Delta Lake, Iceberg, Kafka, Airflow).
• Experience implementing data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
