The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Data Analyst to join our Rapid Diagnostics – Toxicology Business. As a Data Analyst you would be based in Abbott’s site in Abingdon, Oxfordshire and would report to the Director of IT & Business Change.

What You’ll Do

As a Data Analyst you will be responsible for actively identifying trends and providing internal stakeholders and external clients with information to improve operational and business practices. In this role you will liaise with finance, commercial and operational colleagues to identify, gather and analyse data and make insights accessible through easy to interpret reports, graphs and tables.    

More specifically:

  • Use business analytics reporting tools; prepare management information (MI) reports and present as required both internally and to clients
  • Communicate with stakeholders to understand data content and business requirements
  • Apply tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation
  • Create and deliver internal reports to analyse and report insights
  • Perform statistical analysis of data
  • Use data mining to extract information from data sets, and identify correlations and patterns
  • Use data to predict trends in the existing customer base and customer population as a whole
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for cost efficiencies
  • Monitor and audit data quality

Required qualifications/Profile

  • Degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant field such as mathematics, economics, statistics or computer engineering
  • In depth knowledge of statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques
  • A strong understanding of data sources, data organisation and storage
  • Knowledge of relevant relational databases such as SQL
  • Excellent IT literacy; experience of business analytics platforms such as QlikView and Power BI required
  • Previous experience in a data analyst office-based role.
  • Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail, to make accurate conclusions and predictions
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise own workload
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to demonstrate strong initiative skills.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, identifying and implementing change when needed.
