Job Description:

An Ops Research Analyst supports the application of statistics, math, business acumen, and computer science concepts to collect, organize, analyze, summarize, and interpret data. This role also monitors, maintains and troubleshoots Revenue Management technical applications that unlock revenue generating opportunities, enable smarter decision making, and improve efficiency for the Revenue Management Department. The Ops Research Analyst is a strategic problem-solver who is ready to drive the future of Southwest Airlines.

Responsibilities- Formulates solutions and communicates results from data analysis with assistance from more experienced Data Scientists
- Assist in research, data mining, developing conclusions and presenting findings to leaders for discussion and evaluation
- Supports the ongoing effectiveness of models in use by stakeholders
- Use technology skills to build, update, and maintain scalable applications, datasets, and automated processes based on provided requirements
- Assist in enabling Yield Management and Pricing to be more effective and efficient by working with more senior members of the Team to create reports and strategies
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
- Knowledge of foundational statistics and math concepts
- Knowledge of statistical and scripting programming languages
- Ability to collect, organize, visualize and assimilate data by turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software
- Ability to identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
- Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions
- Ability to deliver assignments that are medium in scope and high importance
- Ability to provide appropriate written documentation of tools, processes, and projects
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Intermediate level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:
- Revenue Management principles
- SQL, Alteryx, or VBA
- Tableau, PowerBI, Java, Access, or Python
- Relational databases (Teradata, Oracle, etc)
- Structured Query Language (SQL) to compile and analyze large amounts of data
- Microsoft Office products, with emphasis on Access and Excel
- Preferred: Knowledge of foundational statistics and math concepts
- Preferred: Knowledge of statistical and scripting programming languages
- Preferred: Ability to collect, organize, visualize and assimilate data by turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software

Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $82,800 per year to $92,000 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
