Citi
Citi is a leading global bank for institutions with cross-border needs, a global provider in wealth management and a U.S. personal bank.Role Overview
Join a creative, inclusive, and data-focused team looking to transform how Citi manages Corporate Loans data and operational processes and enhance how regulatory reports are produced. The Cross Functional Data & Analysis team within Citi’s Data group is searching for a senior Data Analyst skilled in data analytics to aid in creating strategic automation solutions and process reengineering for Loans Data and for Credit Risk Monitoring Data.
The role involves partnering with several key internal stakeholders (Operations, Technology, Banking, Markets, Commercial Bank, TTS, Compliance and Risk) in order to create holistic and strategic solutions that fully support, satisfy, and anticipate the data origination and maintenance needs of the business and our regulators.
The Cross Functional Data & Analysis team can be described as a consultancy-style team of Technical Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Data Analysts that are deployed to varying projects across a broad Data Transformation initiative to improve the data quality of key lending data at Citi. These projects require creative solutioning and defining requirements across multiple internal systems.
The Data Transformation Group
The group’s goal is to ensure we can generate accurate and complete information in a timely manner, and use that data to inform our business-as-usual operations and our risk analyses, whether for real-world needs or as part of our scenario planning and regulatory reporting. While that sounds straightforward, it’s a meaningful undertaking to move away from siloed and complex processes, legacy systems, and activity-based metrics that have held us back in the past.
Job Functions
The team is looking for a growth-oriented and curious senior data analyst who will:
- Drive solutions with evidence – perform data analysis activities utilizing Excel, SQL and/or Python,
- Define and own the resolution of issues – manage multiple program streams and develop technology solutions utilizing a strategy defined by the candidate,
- Influence team members by example & through knowledge sharing – mentor junior team members, aiding in their growth as individual contributors,
- Be a change agent – review existing processes critically in order to identify inefficiencies and automation solutions,
- Communicate effectively – author formal artifacts such as Business Requirement Documents, CAP closure and Internal Audit documents, and communication materials for senior management and key business partners in the form of PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets,
- Hunt for the right solutions – collaborate with team members, technology partners, and business partners to identify efficient and strategic solutions,
- Be organized and timely – have a strong appreciation for regulatory deadlines.
An example of the senior DA’s expected responsibilities would include identifying and resolving Y14 data issues in line with regulatory defined milestones. Through the ownership of the solution, the senior DA would need to use data analysis skills and communication skills to collaborate with SMEs in order to define the root causes of the DQ issues, create a strategic remediation or automation plan, network among others at Citi to identify and track the operational impact of your solution, work with the Program Manager to hold those owners accountable for remediation of found data quality issues at source, etc.
The expectation is for the senior DA to be able to lead various data analysis projects independently from start to finish and provide any necessary documentation and presentation materials related to the project.
Personal Development
In the role, the senior DA will have opportunities for senior management exposure, to make highly impactful process improvements, and to grow their leadership skills.
The data analyst will:
- gain leadership skills and exposure to other leaders across the bank,
- grow to lead larger projects/programs over time,
- enhance presentation skills that cater to the audience using multiple mediums (verbal, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.),
- receive mentorship from the analyst’s reporting line as well as through formal development and leadership programs within ISG,
- grow subject matter expertise in global loan products across Citigroup, risk management concepts, Citi systems and data architecture, and regulatory reporting, and
- be part of a collaborative, diverse, and results-driven team that supports one another on a daily basis.
Qualifications
The data analyst is expected to have:
- a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Data Science or Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, or other similar degrees,
- greater than 6 years of experience working in Data Analytics, Product Management, Business Analytics, Banking Consultancy, or in a different related field,
- a baseline understanding of financial instruments used by institutions. An understanding of loans products or credit risk management is a plus,
- advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint,
- experience with data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, etc., and
- experience with FR Y14, CCAR, or other credit risk regulatory reporting is a plus.
