The Director Data Reporting and Insights is responsible for leading the data and reporting team within Impact & Inclusion to enhance the integration of insights and research into the charitable giving portfolio including philanthropy initiatives, operations, and program design/evaluation. Leveraging strong leadership skills and desire to innovate, this role will be integral to managing high visibility data analytics and reporting work to showcase the company’s community engagement investments. Success in this role requires the ability to partner with stakeholders to help shape and strengthen their work, earn the trust of their teams, and work collaboratively to advance Project UP, Comcast’s comprehensive initiative to advance digital equity and help build a future of unlimited possibilities.Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Partner with senior leaders, Impact & Inclusion (I&I) teams, and other stakeholders to define and scope data, reporting, measurement and evaluation needs for a range of philanthropic, corporate social responsibility and employee engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with I&I teams to solution key data questions as well as create and manage data insights and reporting processes; Research and design proactive strategies to better leverage data in a storytelling and predictive capacity.
- Identify and utilize internal and external information sources to design, build and maintain data queries and models that support I&I goals, strategic planning, financial operations and align to business growth priorities.
- Identify and lead projects that leverage company assets and talent to deliver philanthropic programming.
- Collaborate closely with the I&I Technology team as well as business teams from Enterprise Business Intelligence, Digital Equity, Public Policy, External Affairs and Corporate Communications to influence the design and administration of our database and related collection tools and processes. Partner to develop and manage analytic tools that meet I&I technical and user criteria, along with reporting/analytics needs. Prepare presentations that combine analytical rigor with persuasive narrative and data visualization to bring insights to life.
- Collect, curate, query, and mine data and develop reports and dashboards to document financial, operational, and performance metrics in corporate giving, employee charitable giving, and volunteerism to support strategic planning, impact storytelling, and financial reporting needs.
- Working under a shared services model to manage research and benchmarking capacity to advance understanding of national philanthropic, employee engagement activities, and identify best practices in corporate social responsibility to support program design, measurement, and evaluation.
- Develop and maintain protocols to handle and track ad hoc data requests while ensuring accuracy in information that may be available in public forums.
- Ensure oversight and compliance with information governance policies and procedures.
- Promote and evangelize a culture of excellence, data driven discussions, healthy skepticism, intellectual curiosity, knowledge sharing, and teamwork.
- Develop and mentor others within the organization in using key analytical and forecasting tools, statistical analysis, and data reporting methods.
- Stay current with emerging trends in analytics, statistics, and visualizations and apply them to business challenges.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Competencies/Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of Comcast’s Impact & Inclusion’s priorities.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience and “tell the story”.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, organizational skills; interpersonal, leadership, team building, decision-making, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Preference: BA/BS degree in economics, statistics, psychology, finance, computer science, mathematics, business analytics or data science. Master’s degree or PhD a plus.
- 8 or more years of relevant work experience, preferably in analytic role
- Proficient in data cleaning, wrangling, and manipulation techniques. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
- Highly proficient in SQL. Experience with Python and/or R preferred.
