HPC/DC Senior Linux IT Specialist – Team Lead

We’re hiring a Senior Linux IT Specialist – Team Lead to join our High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Digital Platforms team. You’ll oversee Linux-based systems in a mission-critical environment and lead a small technical team supporting our global HPC and cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux systems and services

  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and manage security updates

  • Drive automation efforts using tools like Ansible, GitLab, and shell scripting

  • Support container, cloud, and virtualization platforms (e.g., Docker, OpenStack)

  • Provide 24/7 on-call support and participate in change/release processes

  • Lead and mentor a small team of IT specialists, setting priorities and reviewing technical work

  • Act as a point of escalation for complex technical issues

  • Coordinate team efforts to meet project deadlines and ensure service continuity

  • Represent the team in cross-functional meetings and collaborate with stakeholders

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on Linux system administration (HPC or large-scale IT preferred)

  • Strong technical leadership or team lead experience in an IT infrastructure environment

  • Proficient in automation/scripting (Ansible, Bash, Python) and system monitoring

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, containers, and virtualization

  • Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science or equivalent work experience

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD, GPUs, RAID, and clustering tech

  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks, CCNA, or CompTIA certifications
