Job Description:

We’re seeking a hands-on AI Engineer to bring machine learning and generative AI models to life across production systems. You’ll build APIs, deploy models, and use workflow automation platforms like n8n, Airflow, or Make to integrate AI into client-facing tools, content engines, and CX flows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable APIs to serve machine learning and GenAI models.
  • Integrate LLM pipelines (e.g., summarization, personalization, classification) into front-end apps, websites, or campaign systems.
  • Create modular, event-driven workflows using n8n or comparable platforms to automate multi-step AI tasks.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and GenAI specialists to ensure robust input/output interfaces and error handling.
  • Optimize infrastructure for performance, token usage, and cost control.
  • Ensure observability, logging, and fallback mechanisms in live AI applications.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on ML model integration.
  • Strong Python developer with frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or similar.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker), cloud deployment (AWS/GCP), and API architecture.
  • Experience orchestrating automation using n8n, Zapier, Airflow, or similar tools.
  • Comfort working with vector databases and LLM services (OpenAI, Cohere, Hugging Face).
  • Front-end skills in React or Next.js for end-to-end application delivery.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with campaign systems (CDP, CMS, email platforms).
  • Knowledge of LLMOps, model cost optimization, and ethical AI practices.

What We Offer

  • A dynamic, international work environment with colleagues from around the globe.
  • A challenging position at a successful company in a growing market.
  • A fun and inclusive culture—think foosball, table tennis, themed events, and team parties.
  • 3 extra days off (yes, at Merkle we take your well-being very seriously) - in addition to 25 annual vacation days, there are 3 Well-being Days.
  • 2 Social Impact Days - you can volunteer for a charity of your choice.
  • Extensive learning and development opportunities, including a wide range of personal and online training.
  • A hybrid work model, with 2-3 days in the office and the rest working from home.
  • A competitive salary and excellent secondary benefits.
