Position Summary:

• The group’s analytics are used to build, retain and strengthen our relationship with individual policyholders, advisors and beneficiaries, and to improve our business processes across the enterprise.The SDA requires specialized data and analytics skills from three disciplines:
• Analytics solution consulting – Combining business knowledge and analytical skills to identify, quantify and prioritize data analytics opportunities in consultation with the businesses.
• Predictive modeling and data science – Applying machine-learning algorithms and statistical techniques to discover hidden patterns in data, which can be used to predict the likelihood of future events.
• Analytics architecture and technologies – Creating and maintaining the analytics “ecosystem” for integrating data and building and deploying predictive models.

Position Description:

• The Co-op will perform data analyses to enable the development of business insights. Responsibilities include:
• Performing data collection, summarization, visualization and/or statistical analyses in support of data analytics projects
• Understanding business needs to ensure that analysis results are meaningful and accurate
• Presenting analytics findings within the SDA and Enterprise Innovation team so that results can be turned into meaningful next steps for the business
• Generating clear and meaningful profiles and segmentations of Resolution Life US customers and businesses
• Identifying data anomalies and working to research and resolve
• Identifying areas where deeper analytics work or business understanding are needed.

Knowledge & Experience:

• Pursuing Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, math/physics, or a related field
• Technical expertise in utilizing Python and/or R
• Able to present complex findings to a technical audience using basic data visualization techniques (PowerPoint, Tableau, Excel, SPSS)
• Able to validate data quality to ensure it is appropriate for analysis
