Job Description

Are you a PhD student passionate about Generative AI and its real-world applications? Join us at Legal & General for a six-month paid internship where you’ll work on impactful research projects that shape the future of financial services. You’ll collaborate with a diverse team of scientists and engineers, applying your academic expertise to solve large-scale, real-world challenges.

What you’ll be doing:

• Conducting applied research aligned with your PhD and our innovation goals
• Collaborating with scientists and engineers to solve complex business problems
• Exploring real-world applications of generative AI and data science
• Developing AI solutions using diverse data sources
• Visualising and presenting findings to technical and non-technical audiences
• Adhering to data governance and documentation standards
• Engaging with projects in areas such as AI agents, multimodal AI, and LLMs
• Contributing to internal innovation and community impact initiatives

Qualifications

Who we’re looking for:

• Current PhD student in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Strong background in machine learning and deep learning techniques
• Experience in NLP, multimodal learning, reinforcement learning, or similar
• Proficiency in Python and frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or HuggingFace
• Passion for applying research to practical, regulated environments
• Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and in teams
• Interest in contributing to open-source or publishing in top-tier conferences
