Bringing new to the world innovations to the market to expand the product portfolio and realize aggressive business growth. Create robust product concepts taking into account integral architecture requirements (customer and consumer needs, industrial design, reliability, product costs & manufacturability); responsible for concept transformation into design documentation. Plan, delegate, coordinate and control the development activities of the development engineering team (Product Design, Function Development, Product Quality), related internal and external resources and 3rd party design vendors.

You are responsible for

  • Design, check and optimization, realization and integration, life-cycle management, and verification of elements and parts for Oral Healthcare products. 
  • Product Development work with the focus on user and business requirements, compliance, quality and cost.  
  • Product concept ideation through competitive analysis, common industry solutions and new idea creation
  • Product concept selection through evaluation & testing
  • Communicate technical concepts with trade-offs, risks and benefits to non-technical peers and management
  • Functional deconstruction of product requirements
  • Finalizing the design and integration and writing verification plans for the developed elements and parts. Tests, analyses, and verifies the quality of the design. 
  • Evaluation & resolution of trade-offs during Detail Design and Equipment Release phases
  • Clear mentality of end to end ownership of the technical concept creation, execution and maintenance for all products developed either at POHC or at our suppliers
  • Quality & robustness of the product design, taking into account cost & manufacturability
  • On time delivery of project deliverables to enable project completion to plan

You are a part of

The development engineer is a member of a 20+ people cross-functional R&D team reporting into the large R&D group in Oral Healthcare.  New products are developed by cross-functional projects teams led by a Project Manager. Every team has one or more Design Engineers as well as electrical/software engineers, manufacturing engineers, marketing manager, industrial designer and product quality engineers, all working together in the same location.

The Design Engineers in the team have a broad range of work experience, culture and industries.  They are empowered and driven to work together to deliver new innovations that matter.

The Design Engineer has regular interaction with local and international manufacturing suppliers as well as technology consultants, with occasional international travel.

You're the right fit if:
MSc degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, or related engineering discipline from an accredited university program.

  • Engineering fundamentals (Statics, Dynamics, Resonance & Power Conversions, Basic
  • Electrical)
  • Motion dynamics expertise
  • Solid mathematical background
  • Able to Model, simulate, analyze and do data processing using tools such as Matlab
  • (proficiency required) or Python.
  • Able to demonstrate experience with hands on experiments
  • Experience with actuators and corresponding dynamics
  • System function deconstruction
  • Broad materials knowledge
  • Basic CAD skills (preferably ProEngineer)
  • Functional testing & statistics (including Design of Experiments)
  • Concept Ideation & Selection process
  • Creating in development approaches to provide input to overall project planning
  • Ability to clearly document and present work and results in English
  • Willingness to work as part of a globally distributed team
