  • Apply physical principles to conduct modeling and simulation assignments supporting to tool development, process analysis, troubleshooting, root-cause finding, or design optimization for driving production improvement or solution delivery on manufacturing technologies across Corning businesses.
  • Engage and collaborate with other engineering teams across research & development, engineering, and manufacturing organizations to conduct engineering or technical projects with result validation, implementation, and technology deployment.
  • Be responsible for reporting, presentations, training, and supporting technical, engineering, or organizational development activities.

Experiences/Education - Required

Required Education and Skills (MUST)

Candidate must have knowledgeable backgrounds and fundamentals on fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics with skills on software and numerical modeling & simulation, as requested as:

  • MS or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computational Science, Physics, or related discipline
  • Familiar with at least 1 or more computational software, such as: ANSYS Fluent, Star CCM, Comsol, or Matlab, and techniques knowledge on computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and mass/heat transports
  • Backgrounds on taking simulation problems independently, as defining the underlying physics using fundamental principles, simplifying the problem as much as needed, identifying solution paths, developing solution techniques, and delivering following timeliness
  • Flexibility for domestic or international travel is needed (below 20%)

Experiences/Education - Desired

Desired Skills (would be nice for candidates to possess as senior level)

  • 2+ years of modeling/simulation experience under industrial or manufacturing level
  • Coding capabilities in C++, Fortran, or Python with modeling formulating experience via numerical scheme or computational techniques, such as finite element/difference/volume methods
  • Data analytics knowledge in using statistical or machine-learning tools
  • Project management and collaboration experience with diversity functional groups and communication skills, from project initiation (proposal), execution and tracking, validation, delivery, and implementation
  • Experience on polymer injection molding process, multi-physics, or complex flow simulations (e.g. multi-phase, chemical reacting flows, or combustions etc.) will be a plus
