Job Description
Kubernetes Engineer - Helm Chart & Software Catalog Specialist
Location: Europe
Type: Full-time
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Kubernetes Engineer with a strong focus on creating and managing Helm charts, and contributing to our software catalog. In this role, you will be instrumental in enabling our customers to efficiently deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes, while also ensuring discoverability and reusability of software components.
You will play a key role in defining best practices for packaging and deploying applications, working closely with various teams to streamline our CI/CD pipelines, and contributing to the overall stability and scalability of our Kubernetes platform.
Responsibilities:
Helm Chart Development & Management:
Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality Helm charts for various applications and services, ensuring adherence to best practices and company standards.
Parameterize Helm charts to support different environments (development, staging, production) and customization requirements.
Implement Helm chart tests and validation mechanisms to ensure chart reliability and functionality.
Manage Helm chart versions, dependencies, and repositories.
Provide guidance and support to development teams on Helm chart usage and customization
Software Catalog Curation & Enhancement:
Work with development and operations teams to identify, document, and onboard new software components, microservices, and infrastructure elements into our centralized software catalog.
Define metadata, categorization, and discoverability attributes for catalog entries to ensure ease of use and searchability.
Integrate Helm charts and other deployment artifacts into the software catalog, automating the process where possible.
Contribute to the development and improvement of the software catalog platform, exploring new features and tooling.
Promote the use of the software catalog across the organization, fostering a culture of reuse and standardization.
Kubernetes Platform Engineering:
Collaborate on the design, implementation, and maintenance of our Kubernetes infrastructure, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and security.
Automate deployment and operational tasks on Kubernetes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for Kubernetes clusters and deployed applications.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Kubernetes, containerization, and application deployments.
Stay up-to-date with the latest Kubernetes features, best practices, and ecosystem tools.
Collaboration & Documentation:
Work closely with software development, DevOps, and SRE teams to understand application requirements and provide Kubernetes expertise.
Create comprehensive documentation for Helm charts, software catalog entries, and Kubernetes operational procedures.
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
3+ years of experience as a Kubernetes Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role.
Proven expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining Helm charts, including complex templating and dependency management.
Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, concepts (Pods, Deployments, Services, Ingress, StatefulSets, PVCs, ConfigMaps, Secrets), and operations.
Proficiency in containerization technologies (Docker, containerd).
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Argo CD).
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Go).
Solid understanding of networking concepts in Kubernetes.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification.
Experience with managing and contributing to a centralized software catalog or service mesh.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their managed Kubernetes services.
Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Jaeger).
Familiarity with GitOps principles and tools.
Experience with custom Kubernetes operators or CRDs.
