Kubota Technology Innovation Europe department

The KTI-EU organization is a newly established department focusing on digital solutions and systems development from both a fundamental and applied research perspective. It bridges the gap between the market research, collaborations and technology mapping (driven by our Innovation Center Europe) and the commercial development done by our R&D centers, like Kubota Research and Development Europe and Kverneland Group. The KTI department centers itself on the European market but in strong collaboration with the global organization and other regional offices e.g., KTI-SV (Silicon Valley, USA) to align and coordinate global initiatives.

In this context and in order to strengthen our team, we are looking to recruit a Computer Vision (CV) Engineer. This activity is related to the development of CV systems for precision agriculture solutions using various type of optical sensors such as RGB, multi/hyper-spectral, thermal, stereo cameras and/or LiDAR, radar, other imaging sensors. The scope of the application is broad, including agricultural crop monitoring, machine monitoring, autonomous driving, monitoring of quality of agricultural work while working with tractors and agricultural implements. This is a critical role for the success of our technology advancements pushing the boundaries of productivity and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

CV systems development:

  • Define requirements and specifications for the CV systems, communicating with global stakeholders of Kubota and partners.
  • Define and design experiments from data collection to evaluation and testing.
  • Develop CV algorithms by combining technologies such as image processing, classical CV and modern deep learning based CV etc.
  • Develop software required for the visualization, analysis and testing of the developed CV algorithms.
  • Planning and execution support for the integration of the CV algorithms onto the agricultural machineries.
  • Technical information collection, reporting, and evaluation of the AI/CV integrated agricultural products, related sensors.
  • Manage relationships with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Work within joint research projects with external local and international partners.

Requirements:

  • Educational background in Computer Science, Robotics, Optics or related fields with 5+ years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Python and basic Python libraries such as Numpy, Matplotlib
  • Extensive knowledge in image processing, classical and modern deep learning based computer vision
  • Familiarity with computer vision, point cloud processing libraries and machine learning framework, such as OpenCV,Open3D, PyTorch.
  • Experience with DevOps, MLOps.
  • Experience with different types of cameras such as RGB, multispectral and depth cameras.
  • Ability to conduct hands-on experiments and test hypotheses.
  • Communication skills for requirement definition or alignment of specs with global stakeholders by documentation, design reviews, etc.

Nice to have:

  • Background in agriculture or horticulture
  • Experience of product development of CV systems/algorithms
  • Experience of embedded system, edge computing for real time application
  • Understanding and experience of GIS (geographical information system)
  • Basic working knowledge of statistics, data analysis and machine learning
