Where You'll work:

Role Summary

The Senior Director of Data Engineering, Architecture & BI is a senior technology executive accountable for the strategic direction, execution, and ongoing evolution of the enterprise data and analytics platform. This role encompasses data engineering, business intelligence, and architecture, ensuring the development of scalable, secure, and insight-driven systems that power decision-making and drive digital transformation across the organization.

You will drive architectural vision, data integration, and analytics enablement, focusing on scalable infrastructure, modern engineering practices, and business-aligned outcomes. You will lead the design, delivery, and operation of the data platform, ensuring timely execution across modernization, integration, and analytics initiatives. This includes supporting growth through M&A and cross-functional partnerships to deliver high-quality, accessible data.

This role goes beyond traditional team management—it demands full lifecycle ownership of technical initiatives from concept to delivery, requiring architectural vision, engineering depth, and cross-functional alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Team Building

  • Develop and execute a hands-on data engineering strategy aligned with enterprise goals and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Establish engineering standards, architectural best practices, and governance frameworks across data organization.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Guide the evolution of the team and data platform, aligning current capabilities with long-term architectural direction and enterprise goals.
  • Hold full accountability for the execution and on-time delivery of initiatives through effective planning, prioritization, and collaboration with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Work closely with engineers on design, implementation, and proof-of-concept development.

Enterprise Data Engineering and Architecture

  • Architect and manage scalable, enterprise-grade data platforms using Snowflake and the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, translating business needs into reliable, extensible technical architectures.
  • Design and implement robust data pipelines that enable large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and delivery. Deliver resilient data infrastructure spanning data lakes, warehouses, real-time streaming, and event-driven systems.
  • Actively participate in architecture design sessions, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
  • Drive end-to-end solution execution—from design to deployment—ensuring technical feasibility, timely delivery, and alignment to business goals.

Business Intelligence & Analytics Enablement

  • Oversee enterprise-wide Power BI architecture, administration, and deployment standards.
  • Enable consistent semantic modeling, governed self-service access, and executive reporting capabilities.
  • Partner with business leaders to align reporting and analytics solutions with operational KPIs and strategic goals.

Enterprise Integration & M&A Execution

  • Lead the technical strategy and delivery of data integration across ERP, CRM, legacy, and cloud-native systems.
  • Oversee ETL/ELT pipelines using dbt, Matillion, Azure Data Factory, and APIs for batch and near-real-time data flows.
  • Act as the technical lead for M&A integration, guiding due diligence, data mapping, and system harmonization.
  • Align integration workstreams to enterprise standards while enabling speed, scalability, and business continuity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Executive Alignment

  • Partner with executives, functional leaders, and IT teams to define the data architecture vision and roadmap.
  • Serve as the senior technical point of contact across integration, analytics, and platform initiatives. Facilitate alignment and trade-off decisions between business needs, technical complexity, and platform scalability.
  • Communicate complex data architecture and platform strategies clearly to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Align platform capabilities with strategic priorities such as digital transformation, automation, and operational agility.

Governance & Operations

  • Track key performance indicators and delivery milestones across projects; proactively identify blockers and drive resolution to maintain delivery velocity.
  • Define and enforce robust data governance, quality, and metadata management practices.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response to support mission-critical data services.
  • Optimize operational costs and data system reliability across cloud infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, architecture, and platform development.
  • 5+ years in a Sr technical leadership role managing engineering teams, BI and complex data systems.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional Data or BI initiatives from design through deployment with clear business impact
  • Hands-on expertise with Snowflake, Power BI, and Azure cloud services (e.g., Data Factory, Functions, Event Hubs).
  • Strong experience in modern integration patterns using dbt, Matillion, and APIs.
  • Proven background in building and scaling data engineering organizations, including standards, delivery models, and operating frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of modern data architectures: data lakes, warehouses, real-time pipelines, and event-driven systems.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated engagement in hands-on engineering activities, including code reviews, technical problem-solving, and architecture design with engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry experience in distribution, wholesale, B2B, or logistics.
  • Experience integrating ERP and CRM systems.
  • Background in MDM, data catalogs, and data lineage tools.
  • Exposure to DevOps for data: CI/CD pipelines, IaC (Terraform), and cloud-native automation
