Senior Data Scientist

Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Support bank-wide strategies and initiatives by applying analytical expertise across data domains, delivering insights, leading the build out of calculators and models, and recommending actions that help achieve strategic outcomes across the WNZL portfolio and customer journeys.

• Mentor and guide other data professionals to help them deliver solutions to complex business problems.

• Identify, analyse and interpret trends or patterns in complex datasets in order to realise the value of data to support the objectives of the bank.
• Analyse and understand complex business problems and existing codebases so that new models and/or calculators can be built to solve these problems.
• Design, develop and optimize required processes, calculators and models to support core business functionality.
• Bring a high level of attention to detail and a focus on delivering quality outputs that are well documented, explainable and repeatable.
• Develop reusable data assets, models and calculators.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

• 5+ years’ experience in using Analytics tools to deliver business insights.
• Strong SAS programming experience.
• Experienced with source control tooling (e.g. Git).
• Experience working with complex data and able to provide quality insights.
• Ability to manage and build relationships with stakeholder.
• Solid verbal and written presentation skills.
• Knowledge of the financial services industry including working knowledge of retail and business products and metrics.

• Willingness to embrace new technologies.

• Tertiary qualification in related analytical discipline.
• Other analytics tool experience - e.g. R, Python
