* We are seeking a System Administrator to join our team. This role is open to candidates with a range of experience levels. The final level (System Administrator or Senior System Administrator) will be determined based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
** This position is eligible to work hybrid (9 or more days a month onsite) in accordance with our Telecommuting Policy. Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.

Compensation
$92,000 - $126,000
- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The salary range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive salaries that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.
What you’ll do
- Support Data Governance Implementation: Assist in establishing data governance policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Data Quality Management: Monitor data quality metrics, identify inconsistencies, and collaborate with teams to resolve data issues.
- Metadata & Data Cataloging: Contribute to the creation and maintenance of data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data catalogs.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with business units, IT teams, and data stewards to define data ownership and accountability.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Support adherence to data regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) and internal data governance policies.
- Technology & Tools: Assist in evaluating and implementing data governance tools for data cataloging, lineage tracking, and quality management.
- Training & Documentation: Develop training materials and documentation to promote data governance awareness and best practices across the organization.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK, DCAM) and industry regulations.
- Experience with data analysis, data governance, data quality, business data modeling and/or reporting.
- Advanced SQL experience
- Experience with data governance technologies such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or similar platforms for data integration, master data management and data quality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across teams.
- In-depth knowledge of and experience with healthcare organization terminology, concepts, business processes and systems within a core data domain a plus
- Ability to evaluate infrastructure processes and conduct gap analysis.
- Familiar with industry architecture standards.
- Proficiency in Change Management/Release processes.
What you need
- Bachelor’s degree or completion of a Computer Science Program from a Technical Trade School is preferred. Technical training with certification in assigned technology is required as applicable.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in I.T. and/or application development is required.
- Demonstrated experience with managing assigned technology by performing regular and critical maintenance tasks within defined service levels preferred.
Physical Environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other IT-related tools.
- Ability to work in a standard office environment, including attending meetings in person or virtually.
