Our challenge

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Container Orchestration Platform (COP) team. This role is focused on enhancing automation, reliability, and scalability of our Kubernetes-based infrastructure, while enabling seamless deployment and runtime management of developer workloads. Candidate will collaborate closely with the Sr. Manager of Platform Engineering, Platform Tech Lead, Platform Architect, and Technical Product Owner to deliver critical platform features that empower product development teams. This role also includes mentoring junior engineers and serving as an escalation point for complex platform issues.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $115k - $120k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and optimize Kubernetes clusters (AKS/EKS) in production environments.
  • Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Champion GitOps practices and tools such as ArgoCD.
  • Lead efforts in monitoring, alerting, and observability using tools like Dynatrace.
  • Drive forensic troubleshooting and root cause analysis for platform and automation issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cloud-native solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance on DevOps practices, Azure cloud resources, and CI/CD patterns.
  • Mentor Platform Engineers and support their growth through coaching and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support platform availability and incident response. 

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud-Native Infrastructure roles.
  • Deep expertise with Kubernetes, including AKS or EKS.
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Proven experience with Terraform and Configuration as Code techniques.
  • Proficiency in Git workflows, including trunk-based and environment-based branching.
  • Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Strong background in monitoring, log aggregation, and observability, with hands-on experience using Dynatrace.
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka and Kafka Connect for event-driven architectures.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and independent work style.
  • Experience with .NET and eventing patterns.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Microsoft Azure or AWS certifications.
  • ArgoCD, Azure Devops, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Building IaC using Terraform, gitops.
  • Apache Kafka, Dynatrace.
