Platform Engineer- Business Intelligence Admin

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure. 

Accountabilities

• Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
• Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
• Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
• Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.

This will be done in conjunction with fellow engineers, business analysts and business stakeholders. 
 
To be successful as a Platform Engineer- Business Intelligence Admin you should have experience with:

• Specialist application developments to build complex business requirements and solve critical issues in web applications built on Java/J2EE and REST/API Frameworks. Must have end-to-end development experience of web applications.
• Develop solutions on Java and REST/API Frameworks with full lifecycle implementation of the technical components. Experience on DevOps and infrastructure deployments.
• Ensure all required deliverables are produced in a timely manner to a high specification adhering to Barclays standards with full documentation that will allow a successful transition at the end of the project to the support team.
• Provide innovative solutions to the business needs by delivering and assisting in managing all stages of a project including demonstrations, design, development and implementation.
• DevOps specialist concentrated at ensuring stable performance and uninterrupted availability of high-load apps across large-scale systems.
• Experienced DevOps engineer able to introduce the continuous delivery and continuous integration workflow, which requires the understanding of the mentioned tools and the knowledge of several programming languages. Broadly tasks comprises as CI/CD management and automation, work with automation services and platform, scripting knowledge.
• Should have good hands on and use best practices for Security and controls.
• Easily identify and understand team management, deployment frequency, delivery timelines and lead time.
• A deep understanding of automation tools is required.
• Should have hands on and/ or in depth knowlegde of following:
  • SCM (GIT, Bitbucket, GITHub/ Gitlab).
  • Excellent scripting knowledge and ability to design through Shell, Python, or Yaml.
  • Build (Ant/Maven/TFS).
  • Repository management (Gitlab, Docker, Nexus).
  • Containerization (Docker, Swarm, Kubernetes).
  • Logging and monitoring (ELK, Splunk, New Relic, Nagios).
  • Continuous Integration (Jenkins).
  • Configuration Management and Environments Provisioning / Orchestration (Ansible, Chef).
  • Collaboration, Workflow and project/Issue management (Jira, Teamcity).
  • IaaS/PaaS Open shift and Cloud Platforms (AWS/ Azure) .
