Job Description
The core responsibility for this role will be sourcing and production of data and MI to support the Product, Remediation and Data Integrity processes and projects within the team. Activities will form two distinct groups: regular process activities (e.g. rate change and reporting) and initiative/project-specific / ad hoc Senior team requests for data and analysis. Furthermore, the analyst will be required to interpret and explain the information & results derived to a wide audience including senior players both internally and with our client firms. Even though there are regular activities, much of the work that the analyst will be involved in will be unique, requiring them and their colleagues to be able to think & plan logical steps to complete activities.
The analyst will develop a deep understanding of our core system data & processes with particular focus on interest charging, rate changes and CMI/balance movements. This will inform the analysis undertaken and assist with the resolution of queries from across the firm.
The team enjoys an influential position across the Mars Capital business and provides considerable SME guidance to all areas in addition to the tasks it is accountable for. As such, there is the opportunity for any member of the team to build solid & influential relationships at every level in the organisation.

The role will be based at our Dublin office combined with home working.Â
The data analysis will be fundamental to: -Â
- Identify and quantify quality issues inherent within the data and/or documentsÂ
- Deliver meaningful analysis and metrics / measures in short timeframesÂ
- Contribute to data remediation log identifying key remediation tasks and data cleansing activities requiredÂ
- Ensure continuous revision of the data analysis methodology and lessons learned to optimise the comprehensiveness and efficiency of the data analysis processÂ
- Liaise with project workstreams to understand the âto beâ business processes, identifying key data dependencies and the specific areas which may have particular sensitivity to data accuracy and qualityÂ
- Work with the project team to identify the optimal methodology for the analysis of large volumes of data, and execute these reviews in a timely but accurate mannerÂ
- Clearly document the review outputs, metrics, and remediation requirementsÂ
- Collaborate across all three parties (seller, buyer, and servicer) to review quality issues found and to agree required remediation stepsÂ
- Feed into discussions to set requirements for data cleansing or other remedial processes and undertake retests to ensure the success of those corrective actionsÂ
- Ensure ongoing compliance with security and data protection requirements by handling PII data with care and with full adherence to all confidentiality and security requirements.Â
- Preparation and analysis of portfolio rate change proposals and activity.
- Identification and analysis of loans in scope for systemic remediation activities.
- Timely and accurate production of regular reporting and business control management..
- Personal ownership of the integrity of mortgage data impacted by your activities.
- Reviewing proposals at account level and for portfolio tranches.
- The potential for some âout of hoursâ work to support specific activities e.g. rate changes post business hours.
- Working with colleagues within the team and across the business to create solutions that move our business and customer base forward and in doing so, support our regulatory & client relationships.
- Supporting team colleagues in their activities when prioritisation is required.
- Communication with all relevant stakeholders including ExCom & Board members.
- Arranging updates to the firmâs core management system alongside Technical colleagues.
- Review of requests impacting the teamâs mandate.
- Producing ad-hoc, scheduled Management Information data extracts
- Document relevant business processes
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Excellent, confident communication skills to ensure effective stakeholder engagement and delivery of objectives.
- A team player that works well in a team where responsibilities are shared
- Mortgage & loan knowledge â a good understanding of the principles of mortgage mechanics and processes is a key requirement
- Technical ability â SQL Knowledge Intermediate and knowledge of Snowflake & Python would be a material help.
- Technical ability â Excel Expert level
- Educated to degree level â in a relevant field quantitative field e.g., data science/computer science/maths/statistics/physics/computer science/economics or relevant equivalent experience
- Self-starting and inquisitive. Can take an initial brief or an existing model/process and investigate it, reverting with opportunities to improve without waiting for further direction.
- Experience of managing data is vital with ability to learn new processes with new data, constant learning/evolving
- Previous experience requirements gathering, testing, quality assurance, documentation
- Previous experience in Management Information reporting and analysis would be an advantage
- Experience of evaluating processes and delivering outcomes
- Experience in a fast-paced commercial environment, working to tight deadlines with a flexible approach.
