THE JOB:
The Senior Data Engineer I will lead, manage, and execute the design, development, and operationalization of advanced data integration, engineering, and platform services to drive enterprise-wide data initiatives. This role involves delivering production-grade solutions through end-to-end ownership—including visioning, architecture, coding, testing, deployment, and ongoing operational support. All responsibilities must be carried out in full compliance with departmental standards as well as MGM Resorts’ policies, practices, and procedures.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

• Lead the end-to-end development and execution of production-grade data integration and engineering code, from vision and definition through development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.

• Create comprehensive technical design documentation that aligns with business objectives, source and target system specifications, and solution architecture standards.

• Collaborate with technology leadership to evaluate, adopt, and implement innovative technologies and methodologies that enhance platform performance and improve the overall customer experience.

• Partner closely with Product Management to ensure data design, engineering, and implementation align with product vision and fully meet business requirements.

• Mentor junior engineers by guiding technical decision-making, analyzing product trade-offs, and delivering simple, intuitive solutions that perform reliably.

• Build and nurture strong relationships across diverse teams and organizational levels to effectively communicate technical solutions, fostering trust and securing stakeholder buy-in.

• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned to support team and organizational goals.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field

• Over 5 years of relevant experience delivering data integration, data engineering services, and data platform solutions

• Experience working in real-time data replication and integration across heterogeneous databases

• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Oracle GoldenGate environments to ensure seamless data movement

• Experience with data warehouse integration and data engineering using real-time messaging, batch ETL/ELT, and data management processes

• Hands-on experience with cloud environments and various cloud services

• Proficiency in scripting tools and programming languages, with experience in a DevOps culture

• Previous experience in the hospitality industry

• Strong understanding of best practices in data integration, engineering, and platform engineering

• Knowledge of data platforms, ETL tools, Cloud IaaS/PaaS, and scripting technologies

• Solid grasp of data architecture, data modeling, data governance, data quality, security, and compliance
