KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be the voice of data— champion of data as a strategic business asset and driver of revenue at the executive level. Act as the chief advocate and evangelist of data-based decision making in the top leadership team and at the business unit management level
Measure and manage data risk—Develop capabilities to measure and predict risk, manage data risk through the effective data governance structures.
Influence corporate strategy—Enable better analytics for decision-making, help refine corporate strategy using insight gained from effective analysis of data. Develop and implement strategic partnerships in the business, technology and academic field.
Provide stewardship—Identify data ownership and accountability across the organization, champion and implement data management strategies and standards, institutionalize data quality management. Advise the business leadership team on analytics value opportunities on an ongoing basis and translate business problems into specific analytics and technology enabled solutions.
Improve the top and bottom line—Increase revenue through effective governance and use of data, lower the cost of quality and cost of compliance, improve productivity through access and availability of data.
Translate complex analytics outcomes into actionable insights & operational decisions and develop standards & processes for analytics solution development and implementation across all critical functions of the Group.
Establish the Data governance organization: A small, centralized organization that reports to the CDO; the core team is supplemented with specialists from business and IT functions as needed. Drive data governance framework adoption and institutionalize the data management capabilities. Shape the development programs of business leaders to increase the level of data management including analytical literacy across the Group.
Define data and metadata standards: The CDO has a direct report team of data SMEs that can analyze, define and refine standards for each data entity. Lead the transformation of the Group towards an analytically enabled organization.
Stay abreast of developments at the intersection of data science, technology and business relevant to the Group and drive business innovation through analytics.
Lead, build and develop a motivated an EDM core team; promote top talent in EDM and be the interface of EDM, technology and business
Shape the technology strategy together with the technology management team in particular pertaining to the data and analytics technology stack, critical workflows and channel infrastructure.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The preferred candidate will meet the following minimum criteria:
- A holder of a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics/Business/Statistics/
Economics/Computer Science or closely related field from a recognized institution. - Proficiency in data governance frameworks , tools and languages e.g. DAMA DMBOK, COBIT, or ISO/IEC 38500, SQL, R, Python, Supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
- At least eight year's relevant work experience at management level, including experience in the following specific areas:
- Data Governance
- Data science
- Data quality management
- Data remediation programs
- Master data and metadata management
- SQL
- Project Management
- Leading large teams and managing matrix reporting resources
- Have excellent persuasive communication skills and astute business acumen
