Reporting to the Innovation Lab Manager, the Innovation Research and Development Technician will work alongside the innovations team and individually on projects. They will be responsible for performing needed testing procedures and producing reports from trials and tests as well as working with the innovations team to develop and database of testing and research results.

 What you will do:

• Coordinate and/or conduct necessary testing required for projects.
• Ensure documentation on testing and data entry of results is completed.
• Mastery of testing equipment within the innovations lab and ability to complete reports as required by testing.
• Work with fabrication team to ensure samples are produced to current standards and meet testing requirements.
• Maintain accurate project information, formulations, and specifications. Collaborate with the Customer Service, Quality and Operations departments to create and review specifications for raw materials, blends, and finished products as needed.  Develop documentation as required for new product development projects.
• Travel as needed to assist in project trials and testing, to identify and help resolve customer service issues, and to outside manufacturing to keep track of possible new machinery.
• Identify new opportunities and projects to improve current products.
• Work collaboratively with cross functional teams within Tarkett Sports, including personnel in Customer Service, Marketing, Purchasing, Operations, Quality Control, and Finance on new product development and to resolve process and product technical issues.
• Prioritize and manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.
• Develop policies and procedures as needed within area of responsibility.
• Coordinate plant and/or field trials and new product start-ups.
• Work with Operations to troubleshoot technical, formulation, and processing issues during pilot plant and field trial runs
• Arrange in-house sensory evaluations.
• Work with Procurement to facilitate solicitation and review of new ingredient samples

Experience & Education desired:

• Education: Certificate from a college or technical school (1 year), or 3–6 months of relevant experience/training, or an equivalent combination.

• Technical Expertise that will help you succeed:
  •  Skilled in turf installation, quality control, and interpreting sports field drawings and project manuals.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel (including pivot tables), SharePoint, and database systems.
  • Experience with Syspro and data entry.
  • Knowledge of Python and SQL is a strong asset
  • Ability to interpret scientific/technical documents and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Understanding of probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios.
  • Capable of analyzing complex data and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and manage abstract variables.
