Summary of Job Duties:
The Data Product Manager is a part of the Enterprise Applications and Data Services (EADS) team within the University Information Technology Services (UITS) department and reports to the Data Manager. The Data Product Manager will develop and manage data products within the Enterprise Data Hub. This role coordinates the people, processes, and technology needed to ensure that high-quality, trusted, and usable data products are delivered to stakeholders across campus.The Data Product Manager works collaboratively with data analysts, engineers, governance teams, and university departments to define, prioritize, and deliver data solutions that support data-driven decision-making and advance the University’s mission.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field
Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications.
At least 3 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or data product/project management
Proven ability to translate business needs into actionable data products and solutions
Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams
Understanding of cloud data engineering, data integration, and data visualization concepts, and familiarity with related tools and platforms (e.g., data pipelines, data lakes, ETL/ELT, and reporting tools such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK principles covering data governance- stewardship, data quality, and data security
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a higher education environment
Experience managing enterprise-scale data platforms or data products
Experience working with Microsoft Azure platform
Knowledge of data modeling, metadata management, and cloud data architecture
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a user-centered mindset
Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to distill complex data concepts into clear requirements and user stories
Proficiency in data storytelling and communicating insights to stakeholders
Commitment to fostering a collaborative and data-informed culture
