For our Vattenfall Business Area Wind Business Unit Solar & Batteries we are now looking for a
Working Student – Battery Engineering & Data Analytics (f/m/d)
for our office in Hamburg.
Our Battery Engineering Circle is at the forefront of developing and operating cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Europe. As a self-organized, interdisciplinary team, we combine innovation, data, and engineering to shape the energy transition.
Key responsibilities and duties
As a working student, you will support our team in managing and analyzing battery asset data to improve performance and reliability. Your main tasks will include:
- Data Analysis & Visualization: Analyze large datasets from battery systems using Python and MATLAB to identify trends, anomalies, and performance issues.
- Root Cause Analysis: Investigate operational issues and support the team in identifying technical causes and proposing solutions.
- Data Structuring & Management: Organize and maintain data libraries and documentation systems.
- Tracking & Reporting: Develop dashboards and reports to monitor asset performance and support decision-making.
- Research & Documentation: Support technical research, prepare presentations, and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
- Project Support: Participate in workshops, team meetings, and process optimization initiatives.

Qualifications
Your profile
We’re looking for a curious, analytical, and proactive student who is passionate about renewable energy and data-driven engineering:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Engineering, Data Science, Renewable Energy, or a related field, with at least 12 months remaining in your study.
- Prior experience in Python and MATLAB for data processing, analysis and visualization is essential. SQL skills are a plus.
- Experience with Azure platform and Databricks is considered a strong advantage.
- Familiar with MS Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint. Experience with Power BI is a plus.
- Structured and independent working style, with a strong interest in battery technology and energy systems.
- Fluent in English (German is a plus).

- Start date: Ideally from 1 November 2025
- Flexible 2-4 days/week, max. 20 hours/week with the possibility to increase to 40 hours/week during semester break
