  • Newly created opportunity for an Information and Data Architect 
  • Temporary full-time role for two years, 35 hours per week  
  • Based in Parramatta with flexible working options supported 
  • Salary ranges from $129,464 to $142,665 + superannuation + leave loading  

 

The IT team at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is growing. We have a newly created opportunity for an experienced Information and Data Architect to join the team. 

 

About the role 

The Information and Data Architect will be responsible for translating high-level business requirements into scalable information architecture blueprints that support strategic objectives, service-level targets, and regulatory compliance. You will create and maintain information management standards aligned with the broader enterprise architecture to minimize duplication and accelerate time-to-value. 

This role involves implementing comprehensive data strategies, encompassing data modelling, master data management, analytic reporting, and enabling self-service capabilities. Ideally, you will have experience using the DAMA DMBOK framework although certification is not mandatory. You will produce conceptual, logical, and physical data models that future-proof information assets while incorporating enterprise-wide standards for data classification, security, and lifecycle management. This role requires exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization. 

 

About you: 

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Expertise in translating complex information and data architecture concepts into clear, authoritative, and actionable guidance for stakeholders at all levels of the business 
  • Hands on experience in developing information management standards and practices, defining data models, and ensuring their alignment with the enterprise architectural plan 
  • Demonstrated experience working on turning complex data needs into clear, actionable roadmaps and strategies 
  • Strong background in both the technical and governance aspects of data, you ensure that information assets are secure, high-quality, and effectively support business value 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  

Experience in the following technologies/frameworks:  

  • Data integration and ETL tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Talend) 
  • Data Catalog and Metadata management tools (e.g., Purview, Collibra, Alation) 
  • Information and Records Management tools such as TRIM, SharePoint 
  • Cloud platforms with data services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) 
  • Security and compliance tools related to information and data governance 

 

Essential requirements 

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent industry/professional experience, with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning. 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an information and data architecture role or similar.
