At MFT Energy, we combine cutting-edge technology and trading expertise to lead the energy transition.
We are looking for a Quantitative Analyst to join our ICE trading desk in New York. This is your opportunity to play a key role in a small and fast-growing trading team in the dynamic and evolving US power market focusing on cutting edge technology, working alongside talented traders and quantitative analysts who share your drive for excellence and innovation.
Our US Power Trading team is based across Denmark (HQ) and New York – offering you a truly international work environment where collaboration across borders is part of everyday life.
The job as Quantitative Analyst
As a quantitative analyst in MFT, you’ll be an integral part of our US power trading team, working side by side with traders to navigate one of the world’s most complex and fast-paced energy markets.
You’ll work directly with real-time data to build predictive models, price forecasts, and trading insights that drive decision-making and strategy. Your ideas and input will help shape the way we trade, optimize risk, and develop the team’s edge.
This is a hands-on role with real impact - ideal for someone who’s excited to build, improve, and be part of a collaborative, ambitious setup.
Your key responsibilities:
- Modelling: Build and maintain various models to be used by our trading and risk management teams to support trading strategies.
- Data infrastructure: Enhance and streamline data pipelines, ensuring robust analytics and efficient operations.
- Team collaboration: Work closely with experienced and data driven traders, quantitative analysts and software developers to translate market insights into actionable tools and models.
- Innovation: Research and implement new technologies and methodologies to stay ahead in energy market modeling and analytics.
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and is eager to solve complex problems from the ground up with next-level curiosity. Being a successful quantitative analyst in MFT Energy isn’t just about having a strong track record. It’s about bringing your experience and skills into play while staying curious, driven, and open to learning.
Skills we believe are important for success:
- Bachelor degree in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or another quantitative or related field. A Master’s or PhD in a related discipline is a plus.
- Proficiency in Python and a statically typed programming language.
- Experience designing and maintaining reliable, automated systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills preferably with strong knowledge of Statistics.
- Experience in a similar role (1–2 years) would be an advantage.
You should expect technical tests as part of the recruitment process.
Please note: We are not able to sponsor new employment visas for this role. However, we are able to transfer existing U.S. work visas (such as H-1B). Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States without the need for initial sponsorship.
What we offer
- A dynamic, entrepreneurial work environment where the best ideas win.
- Talented and ambitious colleagues who challenge and support you.
- The chance to take on real ownership as a partner in the company.
- Great employee benefits including 6 weeks of vacation, medical care, dental and vision insurance, and 401(k) - among other perks.
- A democratic and people-first leadership approach.
- A workplace that gives you energy rather than drains it - though we’ll admit, the first few onboarding months can be intense.
