Job Purpose:

 

The Business Analytics chapter as part of the Finance function at Allianz Direct provides key stakeholders with appropriate information, analyses and recommendations to steer the company on a value-based approach. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague who is committed to data and insurance as we do, with a “nothing-is-impossible” mindset. As a (Senior) Data Analyst (m/f/d) you will enable data-driven decisions with your data analysis and advanced analytics expertise.

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Design, develop, maintain, and optimize scalable data models and reports using Power BI, SQL, and Python.
  • With the goal of improving financial performance, translate business requirements into concrete technical solutions by developing end-to-end solutions for our stakeholders.
  • Be the expert for specific data areas (e.g. portfolio, claims, expenses, quotes, etc.) and make them available to the business teams by creating appealing data stories and linking those to the financial performance of the company.
  • Work in close collaboration with the central data team, other data analysts, data scientists, engineers, and product & process teams to drive analytics topics and enable data-supported decision making, with a high degree of independence and self-initiative.
  • Perform oversights on data governance and in ensuring high quality in data models.
  • Actively engage on all levels to influence the data and technology strategy for the firm and identify opportunities for innovation through analytics.


Qualifications/Key skills:

 

  • Academic degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems or related field of study.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and willingness to excel as a team and individually.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in a (Senior) Data Analyst role, ideally in the insurance industry.
  • Profound experience in data engineering, data modeling and data visualization with high fluency in SQL and Power BI.
  • Profound experience with relational databases and the use of large amounts of data in a cloud-based data warehouse such as Azure Databricks.
  • Profound knowledge in Microsoft Excel, VBA and Power Query.
  • Proficiency in Python, combined with solid knowledge of statistics for predictive modeling and forecasting, is a big plus.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, working in a fast-paced dynamic team environment, with the ability to translate technical topics for non-technical audience.
  • Fluent in Business English, German is a plus, additional languages are nice to have.
  • Strong sense of cooperation and ability to work toward team success and willingness to challenge oneself and counterparties to strive for continuous improvement.
