Job Overview: 

As a member of the Data & Analytics team within the Information Technology organization, the Data Architect is directly responsible for translating business needs into data solutions, designing and implementing scalable data architecture, and leading the design and evolution of our enterprise data model — the foundational blueprint for how data is structured, governed, and consumed across our organization. This individual will play a critical role in data modeling at scale, ensuring data is reusable, interoperable, and aligned with evolving business domains and system requirements. This role is also responsible for defining and implementing proper data management policies and practices across the enterprise data landscape and advising system designs, data integration strategies, and platform interoperability that are secure, performant, and semantically consistent across domains. This is a key role in our mission to deliver the right data at the right time to our internal business units and external customers.

 Duties and responsibilities:

 Lead, Manage, and hold Accountable

  • Support and promote the company values, culture, and HR processes
  • Clearly communicates data solution architectures to both business and technical stakeholders at all levels, building consensus with strong interpersonal and presentation skills

Data & Analytics Related Functions

  • Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support enterprise-wide analytics and operational needs, including standards and design patterns.
  • Define and maintain the Enterprise Data Model (EDM) with extensibility, modularity, and business alignment.
  • Assess and guide architectural decisions for systems involving data movement, data storage, analytical data egress, metadata, and shared master/reference data.
  • Ensure data architecture supports data reuse, data quality, governance, lineage, and stewardship practices.
  • Contribute to overall enterprise architecture discussions, especially regarding data flows, system interoperability, and future-state data architecture.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and domain SMEs to translate business requirements into high-quality data solutions.
  • Analyze data to understand its makeup, quality characteristics, relationships, and use.
  • Assist in technology evaluations, tool selections, and defining roadmaps for modern data stack components.
  • Partner with data engineers, system integrators, and application teams to ensure implementation fidelity across storage layers (e.g., Lakehouse, MDM, operational stores).

Deliver Innovative Solutions

  • Future proof architecture to address advanced analytics needs such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Visualizations, etc. that align with the business needs for today and the future
  • Establish a strategy of Data as a Product, Analytics-as-a-Service and Predictive Analytics platform for the organization

Business Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Partner with business leaders to build awareness and maximize value/impact of the function
  • Build trust and strong working relationships with Technology and Business stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts, data owners, and business partners to learn more about the data and how to drive business value through use of data
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in business analysis, project / program delivery, solution design, business intelligence, and data architecture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to lead change.
  • Data security - awareness of data privacy regulations, reducing data risk, data protection, and ethical considerations in data analysis. 
  • Data governance – understanding of metadata management, data quality management, and master data.
  • Continuous Learning - staying updated with emerging data analytics technologies and techniques.
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time or up to 25% if working remotely.

Required Skills:

  • Highly Proficient in PowerBI, Tableau and other reporting and visualization tools.
  • Expert in writing SQL queries and optimizing that code for performance.
  • Expert in 3NF and dimensional data modeling and turning business data into reusable models.
  • Experience with Lakehouse architecture, data management architecture, and data delivery best practices.
  • Ability to query databases to analyze data sets, and how to translate data into meaningful business analytics.
  • Ability to reverse engineer SQL scripts to better understand data usage and design possibilities.
  • Basic understanding of Machine Learning algorithms to identify patterns and make predictions.
  • Familiarity with implementing and supporting various data management tools.

Physical Demands:

  • This position may require travel to various company locations on the East and West Coast.
  • Extended Sitting: Primarily desk-based with prolonged computer use.
  • Computer Use: Frequent operation of computers and office equipment, requiring manual dexterity.
  • Eye Strain and Repetitive Motion: Risk from continuous screen use and repetitive tasks like typing.
  • Office Navigation: Light walking and standing for meetings and tasks within the office.
  • Light Lifting: Occasional handling of objects up to 20 pounds.
