Job Purpose:
To lead and support the development and implementation of strategies for acquiring, managing, analyzing, and governing scientific and enterprise data. The role focuses on ensuring high data quality, integrity, and structure while enabling integration and alignment with business goals.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Primary Deliverables:
- Build and maintain logical and physical data models.
- Prepare comprehensive data profiling and quality reports.
- Define and maintain metadata, taxonomies, data definitions, and metrics.
- Design and implement data cleansing routines and services.
Core Activities:
- Conduct data modeling and perform detailed data design activities.
- Audit and analyze data to define rules and detect inconsistencies.
- Develop and manage master and reference data systems, including hierarchy and affiliation structures.
- Collaborate with global teams, particularly the data quality team based in Paris.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify insights, trends, and patterns.
- Clean, standardize, and correct poor-quality data as part of quality control workflows.
- Clearly communicate insights and data issues to business stakeholders.
Required Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical mindset with critical thinking ability.
- Effective communicator in both spoken and written English.
- Self-motivated and collaborative team player.
- Sound judgment and ability to provide thoughtful feedback.
- Skilled in cross-functional communication and stakeholder interaction.
Required Technical Skills:
- Ability to translate complex data needs into structured business processes, and vice versa.
- Solid grasp of Agile and DevOps methodologies applied to data-centric projects.
- Expertise in data modeling (logical/physical), ER diagrams, data dictionaries, and normalization techniques.
- Proficient in data manipulation and analysis tools.
- Experience using BI and data visualization platforms.
- Familiarity with coding and scripting (e.g., VBA, Python, XML).
- Understanding of ETL concepts and practical implementation.
- Hands-on experience with managing scientific or technical datasets.
Preferred Skills:
- Proven leadership skills to drive ideas forward and coordinate deliverables within a team setting.
- Ability to support planning and execution of project-based data initiatives.
