We’re looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our collaborative, agile, and results-oriented Finance Claims Analytics & MI team. This is your opportunity to grow your career while making a meaningful impact.

What you’ll do:

Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data and reporting needs.  Leverage your analytical mindset, technical skills and business knowledge to identify, retrieve, and deliver data to business consumers.

  • Seeking an expert in Claims Operational data and Data MI with a strong focus on visual analytics development—someone who can integrate and correlate multiple complex datasets to design compelling dashboards and data visualizations that uncover financial and performance insights, support strategic planning, and drive data-informed decision-making.

  • Create dashboards and reports using tools such as Qlik, PowerBI, Tableau, Business Objects or Excel.

  • Understand the data from different sources to be able to deliver self-serving Qlik Sense app for business users

  • Provide input to propose, evaluate and select appropriate design alternatives which meet business requirements and are consistent with Aviva’s standards and processes

  • Maintenance of growing set of data mining tools, frameworks & approaches

  • Communicate practical recommendations based on insights/model results

  • Driving co-ordination/delivery accountability of project and BAU delivery based on timelines & direction

  • Driving conformance/Alignment to IT/Enterprise Architecture standards and corporate wide Data standards (where applicable)

What you’ll bring:

  • You can ask the ‘why’ questions and challenge appropriately if you see a better way of working  

  • A self-starter who wants to work in a faced-pace team that can juggle multiple tasks and brings a curious mindset and the confidence to challenge the status quo

  • A university degree in computer science or engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, physics or related field.

  • 5+ years of professional experience with model development and working with large datasets. This can include experience from any industry.

  • Proven experience in SQL, Hue, Qlik Sense and Spark/Impala/Hive, SAS, Python or R with good grasp of software engineering standard methodologies such as code-reusability, modularity, use of repos, etc.is an asset

  • A proven track record of working closely with Senior Leaders to provide business insights and applying MI to understand and drive continuous performance improvement is required.

  • 5+ years of experience leading and supporting change initiatives and a proven track record of project management experience.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence and communicate across all areas of the business. A pragmatic approach to deliver on strategy execution

  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Basic (VBA), including macro writing and automation

  • Expertise in machine learning theory and predictive modelling lifecycle (an asset)

  • Knowledge and experience working in Cloud data environments, e.g. Snowflake

  • Professional certifications in relevant tools and technologies are preferred such as SQL, Hue, Python, SAS, and Qlik.

  • CIP or other Claims professional qualification an asset

  • Preference will be given to candidates with permanent work authorization in Canada.
