As a Senior Software Engineer at CBA, you will leverage your expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning to drive innovation and enhance our software and platform engineering processes. We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer who brings experience and passion for building scalable, AI-driven modern systems. You’ll lead the design and delivery of end-to-end solutions across services and platforms and will help drive our shift to full-cycle engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement AI-driven solutions to improve software development and operational efficiency.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI technologies into existing systems and processes.

• Lead AI projects from conception to deployment, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance with industry standards.

• Mentor and guide junior engineers in adopting AI tools and methodologies.

• Stay abreast of the latest AI trends and technologies and apply them to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the organisation.

We are interested in hearing from people who have:

• Proven experience in AI and machine learning, with a strong understanding of generative AI technologies.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex production issues.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• A proactive approach to learning and applying new technologies to enhance business outcomes.

Skills Required:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, and experience with AI frameworks.

• Demonstrable experience in designing and implementing scalable, maintainable and reliable software solutions

• Working knowledge of AI/ML and Gen AI applications and how they can enhance software engineering processes to improve productivity

• Exposure building RAGs using LlamaIndex, LangChain, or similar frameworks. 

• A keen interest in researching new AI tooling and you are a daily user of AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Continue, GitHub CoPilot, Aider, Cline, etc. 

• Knowledge or exposure in Anthropic Claude, Llama, LiteLLM, Cursor, windsurf / Codeium, VO Vercel, Continue, Aider, Cline, Langchain, Langgraph, Hugging Face will be highly desirable

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders to solve business-critical problems

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms and services.

• Experience in contributing to open-source projects or presenting at industry conferences.
