What you'll be doing

You’ll join our Data and Reporting team reporting into the Sr Manager, Data Governance. As a Consultant, Data Governance & Management, you will support the evolution and execution of Personal & Business Banking and Commercial Banking & Wealth Management’s (PBB & CBWM) Data Governance program. Your focus will be on contributing to the development of the Data Governance program, documenting and reporting on the PBB & CBWM implementation, preparing materials for the Data Governance Council and supporting data governance stakeholders with a direct impact on the governance and quality of data within PBB & CBWM.

You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview. 

How You’ll Succeed 

  • Support the evolution of CIBC Data Governance - Leverage your Power BI, Power Automate and coding skills to support the definition, development,  and presentation of program metrics ensuring compliance with data related policies and standards.  

  • Support and document PBB & CBWM Data Governance program materials - Support/lead process control testing.  Document and maintain materials supporting the PBB & CBWM data governance implementation including  process flows, KPIs and other metrics, stakeholder educational/instructional materials, materials supporting data governance execution and tracking of data governance issues.    

  • Prepare PBB & CBWM Data Governance Council materials - Maintain and document KPIs and data related issues for presentation to stakeholders,  follow up on next steps/actions as required to support operational excellence. 

  • Relationship Management - Serve as a liaison between technology, business and functional areas to ensure that data governance program requirements are clearly defined, communicated, well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.  

Who You Are 

  • You can demonstrate experience in supporting data governance and are familiar with key concepts including business term definition and CDE identification, data classification and/or data catalogue management. You are experienced with governance/quality metrics development & reporting, measuring/monitoring data quality, along with workflow and issue management, and policy management.  

  • You are a problem solver. You have exceptional critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills with demonstrated ability to independently identify and analyze business problems and recommend solutions. 

  • You’re articulate & tactful. You have very strong communication and presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely present information to groups and individuals at all levels in the organization.
