About the Role


Job Responsibilities

In this role, you are part of our Varian intelligent Data Analytics development team. You participate in the design and development of the custom machine analytics platform. Our cutting-edge system enables Field Service engineers and Customers around the world to gain insights and data about their machines. This role is perfect for the passionate data engineer with a vision for the future of data-enabled devices and who has a deep understanding of data structures, Azure infrastructure, Databricks and Snowflake. You work in a collaborative manner with other developers, architects, development teams and other stakeholders.

As a Data Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with Data Analysts, Business SMEs, and Data Scientists to support the design of and to develop data products and services.

  • Developing and maintaining the data framework, making data accessible and ready for further use

  • Develop and maintain pipelines, APIs, extractions and regional data storages to comply with legal and regulatory requirements from EU Data Act, GDPR and equivalent.

  • Work closely with Data Analysts to extract information out of structured and unstructured data sources.

  • Design and develop efficient, automated, robust and reusable code, scripts, and data processing pipelines that leverage structured and unstructured data (big data) from various sources including stream, near real-time and batch processing.

  • Develop and maintain data pipeline documentation.

  • Maintain existing data pipelines of various data sources

  • Utilize best practices for data storage intended to feed into dashboard and data visualizations that are being used to make key decisions and drive business results.

  • Creating design documentation for each new feature using systems like JIRA Confluence, Draw.io and similar and communicating the design decisions with the teams

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems, related discipline or equivalent experience

  • Proficiency in C#, Python and SQL is a must as is familiarity with assembling and analyzing big data sets from disparate sources

  • Proven hands-on experience in several of the following areas database architecture, data warehousing, ETL, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, advanced analytics, backend development

  • Experience in collecting user requirements and the ability to understand complex business needs to translate them into analytical application solutions

  • Experience in implementing cloud solutions on Azure

  • Experience working with Container Architectures on Azure

  • Experience with Snowflake and Databricks is a must

  • Experience as a backend developer would be advantageous
