What You’ll Do
We are looking for a Technical Product Manager with deep knowledge in Apache Spark and distributed data processing to join our SAP BTP HANA & Persistency Product Management team. While this is not a hands-on coding role, strong technical fluency is essential. You’ll serve as the bridge between engineering, customers, and the market, driving product direction for critical data infrastructure powering SAP HANA Cloud and other SAP BTP services.

Your focus will center on Apache Spark-based workloads and solutions, playing a pivotal role in defining product vision, enabling adoption, and crafting strategies that address complex customer data challenges. You will work cross-functionally to align product strategy with engineering execution, field requirements, and evolving market demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive product strategy and roadmap for Apache Spark-related services within SAP’s broader HANA and data management offerings.
• Translate complex technical concepts, especially around distributed computing, big data processing, and cloud data infrastructure, into product vision and customer value.
• Partner closely with engineering to guide product direction, validate designs, and support feature delivery.
• Engage with customers, solution engineers, and field teams to gather feedback, prioritize use cases, and validate feature needs.
• Monitor adoption and performance of Spark-based solutions and collaborate on programs to maximize usage and impact.
• Support go-to-market teams with product positioning, messaging, demos, and technical enablement.
• Contribute to internal documentation, whitepapers, sample architectures, and customer-facing technical assets.
• Stay ahead of trends in the data ecosystem across Spark, Delta Lake, cloud data lakes, and open-source innovation.

What You Bring:

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 4+ years of experience in product management, solution management, or a technical customer-facing role.
• Strong knowledge of the Database, Data Management, or Analytics space, with hands-on familiarity with Apache Spark as a primary focus.
• Familiarity with cloud-native platforms and big data tooling across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with technologies such as SAP HANA, SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Data Intelligence, SAP Analytics Cloud, or SAP BusinessObjects is a plus.
• Ability to understand and explain distributed systems concepts like partitioning, cluster scaling, and query execution models to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience translating technical vision into business outcomes.

Our mission is to make SAP HANA Cloud the data backbone of the SAP ecosystem, powering a wide range of workloads. Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $103,300 - $218,600 (USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
