Summary:

The Senior Data Scientist (Executive) is a member of the CAA Data team, responsible for accelerating the creation of opportunity through the strategic use of data across the organization. He does this by leading the development and implementation of cutting-edge Data Science solutions to solve complex business problems. The Senior Data Scientist will be a strategic partner to stakeholders across the organization, able to: 

  • Identify a methodology to answer a business question, 

  • Gather relevant data from multiple sources and evaluate its quality,  

  • Perform exploratory data analysis and visualization,  

  • Apply statistical methods to reach a reproducible answer, and  

  • Present results that are usable in the context of CAA’s business.  

The Senior Data Scientist will also be directly involved in developing the strategy and technology roadmap for the Data Science capability in CAA, building relationships across the business to ensure that the strategy meets the organization’s future needs.  

The Senior Data Scientist leads the testing and development of the technology infrastructure to turn Data Science experiments into usable products, as well as continuously evaluating Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) solutions and methodologies emerging from academia to determine if they can add value to our business. 

The position will report to the Head of Data Science. 

Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection: 

  • Exploring new data sources that can potentially be helpful to the business 

  • Evaluating data vendors based on utility to the business, quality of data, and data delivery (API, flat files...etc.) 

  • Building robust and scalable data pipelines to ingest new data sources 

  • Ability to convey ETL requirements to data engineers and collaborate on solutions to data issues. 

  • Data Analysis & Modeling (AI/ML): 

  • Identifying which Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) methods are best suited to solve business problems.  

  • Research and implement machine learning and AI methods that can be deployed in production. 

  • Analyze diverse datasets for errors and insights. 

  • Build and maintain modeling pipelines. 

  • Explain modeling methods and insights to non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Provide advice to the business on strengths and limitations of model results, to avoid misuse. 

  • Project Management: 

  • Building relationships with stakeholders in the business. 

  • Understanding business needs and translating them into requirements for projects. 

  • Building and maintaining project timelines. 

  • Coordinating team resources to achieve project goals.  

  • Managing deliverables from team members. 

  • Setting project priorities aligned with the department’s strategy. 

  • Visualization: 

  • Building and maintaining dashboard and UI prototypes for model interactions. 

  • Work closely with Data Analytics developers to visualize model outputs effectively. 

 

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of overall work experience 

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Science 

  • Master’s degree in quantitative discipline (Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or similar) 

  • Experience using Python and SQL on a daily basis. 

  • Ability to apply supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques. 

  • Ability to integrate LLMs into data workflows, and evaluate quality of results. 

  • Experience working with large datasets and cloud computing tools (Spark, Databricks, Azure) 

  • Experience with Recommendation Systems, Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning. 

  • Ability to design, construct, test and maintain robust, reliable, and scalable data pipeline infrastructure. 

  • Ability to extract, clean and validate data. 

  • Experience with dashboarding and visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau). 

  • Ability to translate business problems requirements for data science projects. 

  • Ability to extract clear actionable insights from data and present findings to non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Collaborate with Data Engineers and Solution Analysts to understand the business problems and proactively design solutions. 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.  

  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills. 

  • Demonstrate initiative and ownership of tasks and projects. 

  • Ability to prioritize, coordinate and complete tasks to meet deadlines. 

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in team environments. 

  • Ability to mentor junior Data Scientists and interns.  

Location: This is an hybrid based out of our Los Angeles office.


Compensation The annual base salary for this position is in the range of $194,000 - $215,000 in Los Angeles. This position is also eligible for benefits and a discretionary bonus. Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in the role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
