Your Role

We are looking for a Lead Big Data Developer with strong expertise in the Databricks ecosystem and a passion for data engineering. You will play a strategic role in implementing our modern data platform — primarily built around Databricks, Delta Lake, Apache Spark, and Airflow. As a technical leader, you will support the team in designing robust, scalable, and sustainable solutions, while promoting a collaborative and knowledge-sharing culture.

Your Main Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the point person for Databricks and big data processing;

  • Mentor and support a team of developers in delivering high-performing and reliable solutions;

  • Advance engineering practices, architectural standards, and encourage innovation within the team;

  • Design and implement data lakehouse architectures using Databricks and Delta Lake;

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain data processing pipelines using Databricks tools (Notebooks, SQL, Jobs, Unity Catalog, ML, etc.);

  • Automate and orchestrate workflows using Airflow or Databricks-integrated tools;

  • Contribute to Databricks environment administration: access management, configuration, cost optimization, and performance monitoring;

  • Define and implement data governance, security, and privacy policies;

  • Set up processes ensuring data quality, traceability, and observability;

  • Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, architects, and stakeholders to meet business needs;

  • Provide mentorship and knowledge transfer to team members;

  • Help create an inclusive work environment based on collaboration and continuous improvement.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Practical and in-depth experience with Databricks in a production environment (ideally on Azure Cloud);

  • Mastery of technologies like Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Airflow, Python, SQL, and Git;

  • Solid experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines and modeling large-scale data;

  • Good understanding of Unity Catalog, role management, and multi-user environments;

  • Analytical mindset, initiative, and ability to make sound technical decisions;

  • Rigorous software development practices (testing, documentation, CI/CD);

  • Inclusive leadership, strong teamwork spirit, and a passion for mentoring;

  • Excellent spoken and written proficiency in French and English (required).

Additional Assets

  • Experience in media, entertainment, or digital production;

  • Proficiency with real-time processing tools (Kafka, Event Hubs, Delta Live Tables)

  • Knowledge of deploying ML models in Databricks (MLflow, AutoML, Feature Store);

  • Experience in DevOps or DataOps environments (Terraform, GitHub Actions, etc.).

Benefits You Can Expect

  • Hybrid work environment with flexible schedules allowing you to prioritize your well-being, family, and work;

  • Competitive compensation and benefits;

  • Opportunities to work with cutting-edge technologies;

  • Learning and professional development opportunities;

  • Access to employee resource groups;

  • Pair programming and mentoring opportunities — learn from top industry talent and help coach new professionals;

  • A creative and dynamic work environment where your ideas and contributions are heard, valued, and respected;

  • A culture that supports experimentation and iterative approaches to achieve the highest level of technical innovation.

Note: This is a 12-month renewable contract position.
