As a Senior Anti Abuse Analyst in the Trust & Safety team, you will play a key role in how we detect, investigate, and respond to threats across our platform which impact our members. You’ll help design and improve scalable detection capabilities, contribute to team-wide response processes, and collaborate with engineering, legal, and product teams to embed security throughout our operations.
As a member of the Bumble Trust & Safety team, you are the first line of detection of bad actors using Bumble in unwanted and unexpected ways. As Bumble’s member base and suite of products continues to grow, protecting members from threats and scams becomes increasingly important. The Trust Engineering team develops and uses tooling to tease out high-quality signals from the noise in order to detect unwanted behaviors and bad actors. Your work directly impacts members every day.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive threat detection and incident response efforts, proactively identifying and helping close detection gaps.
  • Analyze datasets across Bumble Inc products and implement logic for proactive discovery and prevention of threat actors and unwanted activity
  • Create analytics dashboards for analysis, reporting, and planning
  • Real-time surfacing and sanctioning of bad actors
  • Investigate instances of abuse cases, working across the broader team
  • Contribute to detection and response strategy across services, platforms, and business units.
  • Identify and support improvements in detection tooling, automation, and process maturity.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for threat detection, providing technical insight across teams.
  • Handle high-impact incidents from end-to-end, working with senior stakeholders as needed.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and contribute to lessons learned and improved readiness.
  • Support knowledge sharing across the team through code reviews, documentation, and collaboration.
  • Contribute to integration of complex log sources into the SIEM and the evolution of data enrichment capabilities.

Minimum requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in incident response and detection engineering.
  • Significant experience working with data technologies that power analytics (e.g. MySQL, Kafka, Presto, Pinot, or similar technologies)
  • Experience with Linux, Kibana, and engineering fundamentals at scale such as AWS, Chef, and Terraform
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python or Go.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop or enhance detection logic and systems at scale.
  • Practical experience extracting meaningful and actionable insights from data, presenting results to an audience of various backgrounds is a plus
  • Experience understanding bad actors, threat intelligence, and abuse; involvement remediating abuse or security-related incidents is a plus
  • Understanding of the regulatory, compliance, and legal aspects of security monitoring and bad actor detection.
  • Preferred: Experience with behavioural analytics preferably in a trust, security, or privacy environment, with a focus on customer-facing environments
