Job Summary 

Keyrus is seeking a seasoned Data & Snowflake Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade data platforms for a high-profile client in the financial sector. You will be at the forefront of defining scalable data architectures and best-in-class Snowflake solutions, playing a critical role in enabling robust analytics, advanced reporting, and intelligent business insights.

This position is ideal for a senior technologist with deep expertise in cloud data warehousing, Snowflake architecture, and data engineering best practices, who thrives in fast-paced, agile environments and values clean, performant, and reliable data systems.

  • 📍 Location: Europe-based (with possible local on-site client meetings)
  • ✈️ Occasional travel to Zurich

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and manage end-to-end Snowflake-based data platforms, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Lead data modelling efforts (dimensional, normalised, and hybrid) to support complex financial reporting and analytical use cases.
  • Drive the design and implementation of data pipelines, including ETL/ELT orchestration, data ingestion, and real-time data streaming integrations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyse data requirements, translating business needs into effective data architecture designs.
  • Ensure best practices in Snowflake implementation, including performance optimisation, security, access control, and storage management.
  • Write advanced SQL and Python scripts for data manipulation, pipeline automation, and validation routines.
  • Integrate DevOps practices into the data engineering lifecycle, including CI/CD for data workflows and infrastructure-as-code for data platforms.
  • Provide architectural leadership and mentoring to data engineers; foster best practices in agile delivery, documentation, and team collaboration.
  • Support the creation of proof-of-concepts (POCs) and guide the technical evaluation of tools and technologies.

Requirements for the role 

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, with a minimum of 3 years architecting Snowflake solutions at scale.
  • Expertise in SQL and performance tuning for large-scale analytical workloads.
  • Strong knowledge of Snowflake architecture, including storage, virtual warehouses, query optimisation, and data sharing.
  • Proficient in data modelling (3NF, star/snowflake schemas) and designing data marts/lakes.
  • Solid experience with ETL/ELT tools and orchestration frameworks (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Dataiku, Talend).
  • Fluency in Python or similar scripting languages for automation and transformation tasks.
  • Understanding of DevOps practices in data environments, including CI/CD and version control.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance practices in a cloud environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to engage with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Financial services or insurance industry experience is a plus.
  • Fluent in English
  • Must be a Portuguese or European citizen or have a work permit for Portugal
