Firmwide data office (FDO) is a group within the Transformation Division that focuses on data as a key priority of Morgan Stanley's overall Strategy. FDO sets standards and develop tooling for ownership, distribution and consumption of data and data accessibility. The frameworks developed by the team address data architecture and data quality issues for new and existing initiatives at the firm by collaborating heavily with various business units and technology functions in the firm.
Position Description
Data is at the forefront of most business functions as enterprises look to streamline their business processes to cut cost and leverage capabilities such as advanced analytics, big data, AI and machine learning to create new insights. Business decisions will require availability of accurate, timely and consistent data. In a large enterprise like Morgan Stanley, with thousands of systems and tens of thousands of databases, it is critical to provide solutions that help users find data, understand its meaning, and easily access data via APIs, frameworks, and tools in a secure, compliant manner, whether the data is on premise or on the cloud. To address these challenges, the Tooling team within the FDO works on providing tools to document, discover, search, and visualize how data is used in the firm. The team also provides API's and integrations with other technologies in the firm to capture and discover this information to support and promote automation. The team builds in house tools as well as works with vendor tools in this space to address these problems.
The Firmwide Data Office department is recruiting highly motivated and innovative UI developers to design and build next generation tooling for making Data as First class asset. The candidate will be involved in working with technology and business teams to understand their data governance needs and help them get onboarded to Firmwide Data Catalog.
Job Responsibilities:
o Development: Slicing UX Design, develop, & test user interfaces and features.
o Coding: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. Reuse preferred over re-develop.
o Testing & Debugging: Conduct thorough testing of the developed and cross functionality and active in identifying and resolving bugs if any.
o Performance: Ensure high-performance web applications.
o Tools and Technologies - Angular, TypeScript, RESTful APIs, version control-GIT, Jasmine/Karma, Cypress, Figma Design slicing.
o Angular Proficiency: Solid understanding of Angular framework, including concepts like components, modules, directives, and routing.
o TypeScript: Strong knowledge of TypeScript.
o JavaScript: Proficient in JavaScript fundamentals and ES6 functions.
o HTML & CSS: Excellent understanding of HTML and CSS/SCSS for creating user interfaces and component-based UI like angular material.
o Testing Frameworks: Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., Jasmine, Karma) and ability to write E2E for the modules developed.
o Version Control (Git): Experience with Git or other version control systems.
o Collaboration: Collaborate with designers, product managers, and other developers.
Support user experience, accessibility, and usability requirements in the design of digital solutions. QUALIFICATIONS
Skills Required: Must Have
> 5+ years in web development, primarily in Angular & TypeScript.
> MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field-or equivalent experience.
> Experience to work with Figma prototypes
> Excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills
> Working experience of Agile development methodologies and of DevOps integration
You might also be:
> A TypeScript master.
> A seasoned DevOps professional (CI/CD & automations).
> Knowledgeable in Data Governance and Cataloging space
