Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and safeguard our company's databases. The successful candidate will be responsible for database design, implementation, and maintenance, ensuring the performance, security, and integrity of our databases. The PostgreSQL DBA will also be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, a strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
• Manage and maintain the company's PostgreSQL databases, ensuring their performance, availability, and security.
• Conduct regular database backup and recovery procedures, ensuring data integrity and availability.
• Monitor system's health and performance, optimizing as necessary for operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with the development team to improve application and database designs.
Required Skills
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL database administration, including backup and recovery procedures.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and database management systems.
• Experience with performance tuning and optimization techniques.
• The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Skills
• Familiarity with other database technologies like MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
• Experience with cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Understanding of data warehousing and ETL processes.
• Knowledge of database security measures.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Experience with database design and architectural principles.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery procedures.
